Hola,
I forgot to tell you about the baptism in my update below. I didn't want to make it any longer (I know I know, it's a novel!) so I just posted this one instead. Here goes:
Patsy and I decided that Thanksgiving Day weekend would be a perfect opportunity to get our babies (who are 4 days apart!!) baptized since they were flying in then. The babies were baptized on Sat. Nov. 24th (at 13 weeks old) at the church where Mia was baptized and where we got married. About 60 ppl joined us to see my twin's baby Isabella and Keegan get baptized. It was nice too b/c no one there had seen Isabella yet including us...or Patsy and Kieran since July.
The babies did well during the mass and slept most of the time except for Keegan who screamed when he was blessed with the holy water. Poor guy was just sensitive! I had to hold up b/c Josh couldn't calm him down. As soon as he gave him to me, Keegan stopped crying and the priest laughed a bit and told Josh not to worry b/c he prob wouldn't have been able to calm him down either. It was cute! After that, he fell back to sleep and did fine for the rest of the baptism. Afterwards, we had a luncheon in the parish hall where we got to chat with ppl whom we haven't seen in a while. We're happy that everyone made it especially those who came from a distance...the Carrolls, Rick and Elspeth, the lasater's friends and family member and my cousin Chrissy.
We had a great time at the baptism and glad we got to share it with my twin sister and her husband who came all the way from Colorado! :) Thanks guys!

Our Family Update
Hola again,
Here is what has been happening in the Carroll household! :)
Miss Mia is getting big and very active to say the least. She is non stop when it comes to talking and can remember things very very well! She loves to play in her playroom with her babies and boots her monkey...oh and can't forget Rudolph (who needs back surgery...the stitching came undone and have to take it back to Build A Bear store at the mall). She also likes to put on our shoes, a bib, a pail as a hat and push around her stroller...it's too funny! Mia likes to watch her baby Einstein videos still and also Dora and Blue's Clues.
Mia is a crankster though lately due to a virus she got last week. She's been very irritable each morning since Turkey Day practically but got better yesterday. The doc said she has hives b/c of a virus her body is trying to fight off. He said as long as she is not running a fever and eating well, then there is no need to be alarmed. He said it should run its course for about a week and then go away...let's hope it does! She sleeps fine though thankfully and sleeps about 10-12 hours at night.
Food wise, Mia is not too bad of an eater although she is picky like her daddy. She likes your usual snacks such as pretzels, golf fish and crackers. Lately though she's been asking for marshmallows b/c she saw them in our hot choclate! haha! She actually had them a few mornings last week due to her uncontrollable crying (b/c of her hives). We had no idea what to do...she was hysterical until she asked for marshmallows! We gave her some and she calmed right down thankfully! We felt so badly but had to do something. Now we don't usually give her that for breakfast, Mia is usually a rice crispies or cheerios kind of girl, but you gotta do what you gotta do sometimes! :)
As for Mr. Keegan, he is getting big to say the least! He is prob 13 lbs and length wise, he's pretty long for his age I'd say. He'll be 14 weeks this Friday and I really don't know where the time went to! Keegan loves to goo and repeat what I say or try to at least, loves to suck his lower lip, roll from belly to back (did it for the first time a couple weeks ago), play with his hands in front of his face, smileeeeeee a ton, play on his playmat and watch the bubbles on his bouncer. He's not too much of a pacifier baby and neither was Mia but will take it sporadically. He also notices us a ton more and loves to focus on us when we are up close. His smiles are priceless and so is the time that we spend with him and Mia.
Sleep wise, welllll he's doing a ton better at night thank god! As of last week (at almost the 13 week mark), he slept 8 hours for a few nights in a row! I was in heaven!! I never knew how good that much sleep felt until I didn't get it for 13 weeks! It was a very hard 13 weeks w/ no sleep but it was worth it for him. He'll now go b/t 7-8 hours for the first stretch and then another 3 hours before getting up at 8am. Nap wise, they are much better than they were a month ago! I'll place him in his crib, awake, after about 2 hours after he gets up. He'll cry for a bit (swaddled), but will eventually fall asleep on his own (or with my help of patting his chest which he loves) for about 35 mins before he wakes up crying a ton. I'll try to get him to go back by patting his chest which sometimes works but other times, I'll just get him up. I'm not sure why he wakes up after 35 mins each time though? It's like he knows when it's 35 mins and starts crying...weird!
Milk wise, he still nurses from me for about 40 mins total every 3 1/2 hours. I put him on that schedule almost two weeks ago and he has been doing well. He can take up to 5 oz in a bottle or more like he did today (took 6). He may be going through a growth spurt but who knows.
Keegan was very cranky today b/c he didn't poop at all...couldn't get it out! Poor guy! We tried everything we've been told to do except pear juice...didn't have any but am getting some tomorrow. He was very tired too b/c his naps weren't long at all so that's prob why he was also cranky. I just hate seeing him upset...it breaks my heart. He's fine now though but I don't look forward to when he does poop...watch out!
Other than that, Keegan is doing much better than he was a month ago and is so much more interactive! He had his first Turkey Day last week and spent it with my family and Josh's parents and Aunt and Uncle which was a lot of fun. We def had a great feast!!
Josh and I are doing well too and are used to do handling the duties of 2 kiddies. It's def a ton harder than I thought it would be but it gets easier as time goes on. I'm used to our routine and love having them on a schedule...it helps us all! We also love just playing with them and seeing them together. Having two kids is a lot of fun but a lot of work too. I don't know how my mom did it with 4..I ask her that every day! haha!! I don't think I will be having 4 kids, maybe 3, but nothing any time soon. We're very much happy (and busy!) with our 2 little kiddies whom we just loveeeeeee so much! What did we do without them all these years?! :)
Oh I'm slowly getting back to my pre-prego weight...got about 7-9 lbs to go! I fit into a size 5 pair of jeans on Turkey Day which I was happy about but I got a bit to go before my other size 5's fit. I haven't joing a gym yet, don't know when I'll find the time to do so, but I have to! I need to get back in shape and so does my hubby! haha!! We were so active out in Cali and I realllllllllly miss that aspect of our cali life. I hope to get that back eventually. Anywho, I'm going to either join a gym or find a way to exercise at home. Either way, it's going to happen!
That's it from our family...sorry it's a novel, but that's me! :) I love to write! Hmmm, good business idea! haha!! Check out our pics when you can (on the right hand side of this page under Carroll Family Pictures!
Hope you all had a nice Turkey Day! I can't wait for Christmas! We plan on going Christmas Tree shopping this weekend along with getting our family pic taken in a couple weekends. Fun stuff!
Stay tuned for our next family update next month!

Back to square one :(
Hola,
Well as of last Thurs night, Keegan started sleeping 8 hours at night! Woo Hoo! It only took him about 13 weeks to do so, but who's counting! :) I was so happppppppppy to finally get my much needed sleep! :) The next night, he slept 8 /12 and I thought it was getting better. However, he woke up at 3:30 am Mon morning due to a small poop and then again at 6am. Then this morning he woke up at 2am!! Grrrrrrrrrrrr! All I know is that he was very gassy this morning, I mean gassy. I was trying to think of what I ate and I believe it was pasta since it was the same thing I ate each night. Just when it's getting good, something I eat makes it worse. :( I'm not sure if the pasta made him irritable this morning but OMG, he was pretty livid at one point. I think he was just tired but he during his nap, he kept tooting and screaming. Poor guy, he's so sensitive! I got him up and he fell asleep on me. :) I love it when he does that. Anywho, he definitely was better on formula but I don't want to give up breastfeeding just yet. I may give formula to him if I eat something that I think may make him gassy, but otherwise, I'm going to nurse him. I'll see how the rest of the week goes with his sleep though. I'm hoping for the 8 hour stretch to be consistent one of these days! :)
Stay tuned for our family update sometime this week. Just waiting for some pics from the baptism to upload to our site.

Rough Night :(
k so I've been trying Keegan on formula since I think he doesn't like something in my milk and it worked for the 4 days. He even slept a record 7 hours!!!! So I switched back to breastfeeding (b/c I figured whatever was in his system that he wasn't agreeing with from my mlik, was out) on Sunday and he only slept until 2:30am and was cranky as ever around 7am. I looked back at what I ate and it had to have been the pizza (cheese- dairy) we ate that night before. So yesterday he only had formula and although he was straining to poop (due to the soy formula we had him on...harder to get out), he did pretty well.........until last night!!!!!!! He went down at 9 and when I went to feed him at 11:30pm, all hell broke lose! He was still trying to poop and could not do so (we gave him pear juice yesterday per the suggestion of our doc and it made him poop). We're not sure if the pear juice didn't agree with him, but I'm prob going to not give it to him today to see how he does poop wise. Keegan would not go down, would scream his brain out and literally did not go to sleep until 4am!! AHHHHHHHH! He hasn't been like this since he wad born!
Today I'm starting to breastfeed again but have to go on a bland diet w/ no dairy. :( I was told to do it for 4 days then slowly introduce dairy to see if that is the culprit. I hope we find out soon what is causing keegan's gassiness and fussiness and I hope it's not dairy ( I LOVE DAIRY!!!!) ! :)
I'll keep you posted!

Formula is going well
Well it seems like there is an improvement with the formula I've been giving Keegan. However, I think the soy formula is causing him to become a bit irritable when trying to poop. We had this problem when he was first born so not sure if it's the soy or what. He only pooped once today unlike the 4-5 he usually did when I breastfed him. He'd poop all the time and that is usually what woke him in the mornings. He is not gassy as much and he's not scrunching up all the time. I'm going to try the soy again tomorrow to see how it goes with the poops and talk to my doc on Mon about trying to eliminate dairy from my diet. I'll prob slowly wean it back in to see if it is milk that he is allergic to. Anywho, he slept another 7 hours last night and I'm loving it! I just don't want to mess it up by breastfeeding again but I have to watch what I eat now. I'll prob start back breastfeeding as soon as I talk to my doctor on Monday. I'll prob start Tuesday...man I hope it's not a milk allergy b/c I love dairy! I think there is a test they can do to see if that is the true culprit. We'll see!

Switching to Formula for a few days
Well I am trying Keegan on formula (soy) to see if there is a change in his gassiness. I think there is something in my milk which he does not agree with and I can't pinpoint it but it may be dairy related. I gave him formula most of the time yesterday and he seemed to be a bit less gassy. He even slept a 7 hour stretch (with a dream feed at 10:30 where I don't wake him up)!! That was so nice to sleep that long! I loved it! I needed it too! I gave him formula again today and his #2's are less (which always woke him up in the mornings) and he's not scrunching up much...and not passing gas as much. I'm going to try the formula for another day or two and just pump in the meantime. I was told that if it is a milk allergy, that he'll grow out of it so I should save my milk that I pump. I'm going to call my doc tomorrow to see what they think and what I should take to get calcium if I need to cut of dairy. I'll keep you posted!
Oh also, I went back to swaddling Keegan yesterday for his naps. Lit'l sthinker loves to flail so in order for him to sleep better, I need to wrap him like a burrito for a bit longer. :)

Day 1 w/o Josh
Hola,
Well my first full day w/o Josh was yesterday (he went to cali Sun afternoon for the week, has been pretty good). Despite my busy morning of going to a chuch playgroup at 10:30-noon, then grocery shopping with the kiddies where Keegan slept thankfully!, then unloading the groceries while the kiddies were in the car (I could see the car from our kitchen...the door to the garage is right by our fridge so I could def see what they were up to), then unpacking the groceries after I took Mia in the house while trying to not wake Keegan, then slowly taking keegan's car seat out of the car ever so carefully and taking it upstairs to put Mia down for a nap, then putting Mia down but not w/o going potty first (she didnt' want to use the upstairs one so we had to go downstairs once again), then putting her in her crib and going downstairs with keegan ever so gently once again and then finalllllllllllllllly sitting down for about 10 mins so I could eat a sandwich before I needed to feed Keegan! PHEW! I think I got it all in?! Sooooooooo that was my busy morning and first full day w/o Josh. I really am thankful keegan slept those 2 hours! :) I think I did pretty well with the help of someone up above! :)
Just wanted to let you know how my first day went....can't wait to have Daddy back on sat! :)
Love,
Me
P.S. It was a gorgeous day here in Middletown!
