MIA'S 1ST TIME TRICK OR TREATING
Well Miss Mia did very well today trick or treating with us today. We took her out about 6 or so and stopped at 10 houses. We brought the stroller, but ended up carrying her since it was too much with getting her in and out of the stroller. Josh carried her up to each door and I held her since I was dressed up and Josh wasn't. Then, as we rang the doorbells, we put her hood part on which lasted right until the neighbors saw her, then Mia took it off of course. Anywho, Mia picked out lots of goodies in the candy bowls and got mostly lollipops! She even put some of her candy in someone's bowl which was funny! Our neighbors made sure Mia took at least 2 candies, one for mommy and one for daddy! It was funny b/c they allllll did that. :) At least they thought of us! It was a fun night and Josh and I are now enjoying some of the candy Mia picked out for us! Happy Halloween!
New Words, Signs
Mia said her 7th word on Saturday...cracker! She said it after one try and now says it all the time! She also does the sign for milk (like she used to when she was 6 months old but stopped a few months later) since yesterday and also tries to do shoes. Just tonight, she saw Josh put something in the microwave which she thought was milk, so she did the milk sign! It was cute! She is now picking up on things a lot quicker than she used to now that she is 15 months old. It's pretty amazing to say the least! We love it!

15 Month Well Baby Appointment
Well, Miss Mia had her 15 month appointment today and all went well except for when she needed to get blood taken from her toe along with 3 shots..then all hell broke loose. :( Just to give you a visual...
Josh was sitting with Mia on his lap, holding her hands down, had his legs wrapped around hers while I held her legs steady and closed my eyes. All this while she is screaming her head off even before she got the shots. Then came the shots and the horrific screams that came from Mia. :( It was quick, but it broke my heart to hear her scream so much and so loudly! :( Her screaming was so loud that after the assistant gave Mia her shots, the door was left open and everyone heard Mia. Our doc along with another doc came by our room to check on Mia again and to give her a sticker which she liked. Thankfully her screaming was short lived and as soon as we got home, she was herself and pulling on the kitty's tail. :)
Our doc said all is well with Mia and that she is developing very well! We do have to go back in one month to get a follow-up flu shot (which I got today also...it didn't hurt thankfully!)...lovely!
Here are her stats:
Weight = 24 lbs, 70% tile (she was at 50% last visit. She gained 3 1/2 lbs in 3 months and I'm not sure where that came from b/c she doesn't eat much...guess she's getting enough!)
Height = 31 inches, 80% tile (still pretty tall!)
Head = They didn't measure her head this time and we forgot to ask why b/c Mia was screaming. I'll ask next month.
Next appointment is in 3 months when she will be 18 months old! :)

6th Word
Last Thursday night, Mia learned a new word...gato...spanish for cat. She says "Gatgo" but hey it works! :)
Mia has also been pretty cranky when waking up from her naps especially Sunday and yesteraday...she was pretty much inconsolable both times and changing her was a nightmare. We had to change her with her standing up which was a pain. She was just tired though we think b/c she pooped her pants and woke up. She needed more sleep and silly Mia has not yet learned how to sleep through the poop. :)

Nap Record!
So Mia's nap are pretty sporadic these days and usually is cut short b/c of the infamous #2. Welllll just yesterday Mia decided to take a nap for not only 1 hour, not 2, not 3 but 4 hours and almost 15 mins!! I was shocked and sneaking in to make sure she was ok (even though we have the motion sensor). She pooped right before she went down which was perfect and pooped when she got up of course! Not sure if that will happen again, but it did set a new record for Mia!

Mommy and Daddy Update :)
Ok so I thought I'd add a post of what Josh and I have been up to...since I never do that. Here goes:
I am still studying for my teaching credential which I hope to have in one year. I am interviewing tomorrow, Mon the 16th, at a nearby school to see what grades are available to teach. Thankfully the school is near Mia's daycare which she will join in Jan for 12 weeks. Other than that, I stay busy by playing with my baby girl which I love doing, playing soccer, cleaning of course, and exercising which I try to do 5-6 days a week.
Josh also works hard just like me but at a paying job...haha. He loves his job at Intel and has been there for about 6 1/2 years now. Where has the time gone? He also plays flag football on Fridays, soccer on Saturdays and loves coming home from work to his little girl. Josh is also looking forward to Feb. when he is eligible for his 8 week sabbatical! Not sure what we have planned yet, but I'm sure it will be fun!
That's it from mommy and daddy! Hope you enjoyed our update...now read below for Mia's! :)

15 Months Old
Mia is now 15 months old as of Oct. 14 and has been keeping busy. Here is what has been happening:
*Baby Sign*
Mia has been doing "more" for a while now and as of today can do "please". She picked it up very quickly and only after I showed her once. :) I am working on shoes, thank you and the correct sign for "eat" although she does the "more" sign for "eat". It's really amazing to see her communicate with me through baby sign.
*Baby Talk*
Mia loves to chat and sometimes I just wonder what she is saying. She'll chat while playing with her toys and lovesss to chat with reading her books. I love it! Mia can also say "Good Girl" and "Uh Oh" which is her favorite. Some other words she says are "gat" for gato (cat in Spanish) and "up"...she loves saying up and it's really very cute when she does!
*Eating*
Mia loves to eat! She eats pretty well sometimes but most of the time will throw her food which to me signals "all done". I do the baby sign for that and clean her up even if she hasn't eaten much. If i don't do that, the entire floor by her high chair would be covered in food. She's usually fine with it anyway. Mia also loves to eat her snacks such as ritz crackers especially the bite size cheese ones, baby gold fish, string cheese, yogurt and ABC Cinnamon crackers (I like these too! :) ). Milk wise, Mia gets about 18-20 oz/day of whole mik which she'll take cold or warm...depending on her mood. :) Her little pot belly proves that she loves to eat!
*First Time*
Mia went to My Gym for the first time this past Saturday for one of her boyfriend's 1st birthday party and had a ton of fun. It was her first time there and also her first time on a trampoline which she jumped on all by herself...and loved it! Josh and I also took Mia to Sly Park for the first time one week ago, but mommy forgot her carrier and we had to go home. Maybe next time! During the last weekend of Sept, Mia had her grandparents visit her for one week and did well being away from her mommy and daddy for the 1st time for 4 days while they went on a cruise (which was a blast!).
*Flying again...did alright, but not great*
Mia, Josh and I all flew home the weekend of Sept. 16 for my cousin's wedding which was a blast. We had a hard time with her on the way there, b/c she wouldn't sleep on us and when she did, it wasn't for long. It was tough, but we got through it. Mia did a lot better on the way home thankfully and got a lot of sleep! Phew!
*More teeth*
As of Sept. 18th, Mia's bottom right molar popped through and as of this past week, her top left tooth next to her front one has comed through. Mia now has 9 total teeth and I'm sure more are on their way through!
*Playtime*
Mia loves to run, run, run during playtime and play with alllll of her toys especially her fun books. She'll sit down on me or by herself and read a book...well try to at least. She loves playing with her balls and kicking them all over the living room floor and make a mess for mommy. :) Mia also loves her playdates she has with her baby friends and is working on sharing toys with them. She doesn't get the concept yet, but I'm sure she will eventually. We have playgroups on Mon, Tues, Thurs and Fri which we try to go to if Mia isn't cranky or needing a nap. I love the playgroups too b/c I get to socialize with my amigas which is always fun.
*Sepeartion Anxiety...almost gone?*
Yeah since Mia was close to 13 months old she developed seperation anxiety and would literally scream when I would walk out of the room. As of the week of Oct. 2nd, she has been doing a ton better and now she doesn't scream at all. Thank god! She also used to cry a ton at the gym's childcare and I would get paged once or twice, would stop by workout to go calm her down, then would leave her again and get paged again...it was tough to say the least. Mia however has been doing great since this past week and although I only got paged once for the 3 days day she was there. The last time we were there they said she cried for like 45 seconds and was fine. Mia actually cried when we left b/c she wanted to play more...silly girl!
*Sleeping*
Mia was sleeping 12 hours/night until this past week when she decided to cut an hour off and sleep 11 hours. She is usually up by 7:15am b/c of poop but will play in her crib with her teddy bear and little blankets until I get up around 8am when she starts fussing. It's always the poop that gets her up especially during her naps which can last anywhere from ~1 hour until 4 hours which she slept today! Yeah she slept a bit over 4 hours and was in bed by 8pm b/c she was tired and cranky. Ya think she would have wanted to go to bed later b/c she slept so long! :)
*Weight/Height*
As of Sept. 14th Mia weighed about 20 1/2 lbs. She probably weighs close to 22 maybe and near 32-33 inches.
Mia's 15 month appt is on Oct. 26th when she'll get some more shots...don't look forward to that!
Next update is in one month...stay tuned!

New things
Mia started to picked up her arms and legs when I take her clothes off at the beginning of this month. She also know when she is asked a question and will shake her head yes or no...mostly yes. :) Mia can also say "up" as of Oct. 6th and does that when she wants on the couch, bed or just to be held. It's so cute when she says it too! She also says "gat" for gato which means cat in Spanish. As of today, Mia does "please" in baby sign and picked it up when I did it one time for her! I am now trying to get her to say "thank you". :)

Ensenada, Mexico
Hola Everyone,
Well, Josh and I are back home as of yesterday afternoon. We had such a great time on the cruise and partying with our friends. It was a ton of fun! We are still trying to recoup and definitely need to catch up on the lack of sleep we got. It was worth it though!
We all flew from Sac to LA Fir morning which was a great flight...thx for saving us seats Stacey. :) Then once in L.A., we got to ride in a limo and ate breakfast by the beach which was nice. Then, our limo took us to the port where we saw this massive ship...it was huggee! We ate lunch not too far from the ship and drank us some good margaritas! We got to take a trolley which was neat too and boarded the ship around 4ish. Once inside, we got to our TINYYYYYYYY staterooms where I crashed for two hours...I was exhausted to say the least and only got about 3 hours of sleep thurs night. My little nap did me well!!! Then we ate a yummy dinner and danced the night away at a fun club til around 2am!
Saturday came and we woke up in Ensenada, Mexico. We all lwalked around the shops and saw some Salsa dancers at a restaurant we went to. There was also a waiter who was making ppl takes shots of Tequila by tipping their head, pouring the shot down their throat, then picking them up and shaking them! I was cracking up and almost had to take part in it..thankfully I had a skirt on! haha!! My other friends took part in it and got shaken up a bit too! :) Ensenada was a cute place although the kids on the street selling gum was very sad. :( It was hot too...very hot and luckily there was shade. We were there until 5, but since we were missing passengers, we didn't leave until 6ish. I guess people were booing the missing passengers when they came aboard! haha!
Sat night, we ate dinner (although my hubby was veryyyyy tired and wanted to sleep) and had some yummy food! The cool thing about dinner was that you could order numerous entrees and desserts which was nice! The dinner was a formal captain's dinner and so we all dressed up. Afterwards, Josh went to bed along with some others (it was a late dinner) while the rest of us hung out a pool party and then went dancing afterwards which was a ton of fun. I think I got to bed around 3am or later that night!
Sunday we ate a yummy breakfast while floating at sea. It was cool day though it was in the 70s...the wind made it not be a warm day. I witnessed a belly flop contest which looked like it hurt and had me a yummy pineapple drink...literally, the drink was in a cut out pineapple. We hung out at a bar while the guys watched football..go figure! Then we all played bingo which was a ton of fun!!!!! It was a full house and luckily we got seats together. We totally thought we were going to win but nope, we lost. No biggie though...it was a good time! Afterwards, we shopped a bit then met up with some of the guys who were playing shuffle board and got to see a whale too! That was very neat although it wasn't close by. We all then showered and got ready for another yummy dinner where our waiters danced around with different things on their heads and where we did the Macarena. It was the best dinner night...at least I think so! Afterwards, we took part in a game called QUEST where teams had to have certain members run up on the floor to show them the items the host asked for (for ex, a male with a women's bra, shoes and lipstick on! Luckily, we had a cool team member who did that one! :). It was a lotttttttt of fun....a ton! Then we all danced the night away again and got no sleep! It was definitely worth it though!
Monday morning came and it was time to leave. We all woke up by the annoying lady on the intercom who was trying to get us all up...it worked the tenth time around. Seriously, she wouldn't shut up! :) We then took a limo to the airport, flew into Sac, drove home and we got in around 4:30pm. I was nauseous and dizzy from all the activity that day, but sooooooooo happy once we got to see Mia! She gave us this huge smile and pointed right to us. It was priceless!!
Today, we are recouping after a fun weekend. We got sleep which was nice, but still need more! Josh's dad left last night and his mom left today to go to L.A. for business. It was good having them here to watch Mia who did very well for them thankfully! I was definitely worried when we were gone and missed her a ton, but was glad to know she was in good hands.
Can't wait for our next get together! We definitely need to do this more often. :) Pictures to follow soon!
Have a great week,
Cathy
