Well after spending a four days at my parents, we arrived at the Carrolls Sunday night of the 17th. Mia did not do well in the car ride to Allentown (my mom drove us there where Josh's mom picked us up) and practically cried the entire hour and 15 mins. She was tired and due for a nap, but every time she tried to fall asleep, she wouldn't. It was harder on the way to Washington Crossing from Allentown, another hour and 30 mins, and Mia just was not happy. She screamed, cried, was very antsy...it was almost as hard as it was when we flew with her here. Once we got to the Carrolls, she took a long overdue nap which was about 3 hours long! Phew! She needed it. :)
Our visit to my parents was nice and Mia got to see my parents whom she hasn't seen in months. She got to see my parent's cute Christmas tree and it really didn't even faze her that it was there. My mom, Josh and I got to take her to see Santa at a nearby restaurant which was fun and also got to see Santa right outside of my parent's place. Mia was in awe of the fire truck and this big man in bright red suit. She got a candy cane-like bag full of goodies!
Our visit to the Carrolls has been fun also. Mia got to see the Carrolls whom she hasn't seen in a few months and 11 deer which were in Josh's backyard! She was in awe of the deer too. There were so close to the window we were looking out of, it was pretty neat. Mia also got to see Santa with the Carrolls and is enjoying playtime with her grandparents.
Mia has been cranky since we got to the Carrolls and we think it's b/c of teeth which we can't see coming in yet. She'll take a 2-3 hour nap and just wakes up very crankyyyyyyyyy. The only thing that calms her down is her Andre Reiu video. Too funny! She started sleeping only 9 hours at night as of two nights ago and I am not sure why? She went from sleeping 12+hours to 9 in a matter of one night! I hope that doesn't last long though! She is eating okay though, but not really drinking her usual amount of milk. Could be teeth, but who knows!
The weather here in PA has been on the milder side and in the 40-50s. It's usually 30 or below, but I'm not complaining!
We look forward to Christmas morning and seeing how Mia reacts to all the presents she gets to open! :) Can't wait!

Back in PA for the holidays!
Well we finally made it to my parents house at 5am this morning, east coast time, after a 16 hour door to door trip and w/ a very tired baby who was up for 16 hours before falling asleep in the car for 2 hours :( Our trip was horrible to say the least and here is why:
*Our flight out of Sacramento was to leave at 1:35 and we didn't leave until 2 hours later. We sat on the runway for about 30 mins too (Chicago had bad weather, go figure!) and got diverted in the air to a "holding track" b/c of weather for maybe 15 mins.
*Our flight to Scranton airport (15 mins from my parents) was cancelled in Chicago and had to wait in a long line to get redirected to Newark, NJ (2 hours from my parents)
*No luggage! It's not arriving in Scranton until another 2 1/2 hours. We are still in our clothes from yesterday morning. Luckily, my mom has clothes for Mia.
Mia did not do well at all and screammmmmed on the first leg to Chicago while arching her back, throwing her head and arms....it was hell for about two hours and then Mia sorta calmed down (we wish we gave her benedryl in Sacramento, but forgot to). The lady diagonal to us said, "Oh she wasn't that bad!" Whatever! Josh and I basically were passing Mia back and forth and nothing calmed her until he took her in the back of the plane where the attendants gave her a choc chip cookie. That was short lived though.
When Mia would try to sleep, it'd only last for a min. She did however sleep maybe 20 mins and the baby diagonal to us (with the lady who said Mia didn't do that badly) started crying and woke Mia up. Grrr! THen all hell broke loose again. Josh and I really tried everything and nothing calmed her. I think ppl were getting p***** at us, but oh well. Mia didn't do well on the way to NJ either, was very antsy, cried, was wired to say the least from being up for so long. We wish we gave her Benedryl in Chicago but were too busy figuring out how to get home.
Josh and I lucked out and were able to bring the car seat on both legs with us. However, we could only use it for the 2nd leg b/c it was economy seating. The first leg's seats were so close together that when Mia was throwing her tantrum in the car seat, she kicked off of the seat in front of her. We had to hold her which was not fun.
Lesson we learned: Remember Benedryl and avoid Chicago at all costs!! We got cheap tix into Scranton, which is always $$$ to fly into, but we are going to be more selective of where our layovers are from now on.
We are very happy and thankful we had a safe flight and are glad to be home...finally!

Temp of 105!
Mia woke up from her nap at 3:45pm with a very high temp of 105! She was miserable and crying...poor thing! We gave her a lukewarm bath w/ some meds and about 45 mins later, she was fine. She drank her milk and watched her classical music dvd, phew! She is sleeping now but we are going to wake her in a bit to give her more meds in case her temp spikes back up in the early morning. This is the 2nd time she's had a temp this high and the ER told us we need to let her fever break...and that it's probably viral. I hope her fever breaks soon!
Another word
Mia said Santa today when we were telling her where we were going in the morning! She didn't care for Santa though but we did get a pic with me holding her and sitting next to Santa. :)

Mia Update
Hola,
Miss Mobile Mia is now 16 1/2 months old and is getting big! It's been a while since I last wrote (been a bit busy with school work), so here is what has been going on since our last update on Oct. 18th:
Weight/Height
At the docs last week, she weighed 24 lbs and 13 oz. She went in for congestion and came out with two ear infections. :( She is better now, but still has her cough which is going away. She is pretty tall too, probably 32 inches or a bit more.
Talking/Signs
Mia can say a few new words: down, cracker, gato, nana, nooooo, baby (said baby on Thanksgiving...more like bee bee), aba (for aqua) and cheese (kind of said it clearer today). That makes about about 11 words that Mia can now say. :) She can also sign for eat (used to do "more" for eat, but now does "eat" for "eat"), please, more and her fav sign, milk. It's pretty cute to see Mia do "milk" when we get her up in the morning and when she's by the fridge. It's pretty amazing. Anywho, I am teaching her signs for no, stop, thank you/you're welcome, but these are taking her a bit longer to mimic since she is not really interested in them. I'm sure she'll pick them up eventually.
Sleeping
Mia is a greatttt sleeper with 12 hours of night time sleep each night! Lask week when she was congested, she slept about 13-14 hours! However, she's back to her 12 hour schedule which I still love!
Raisins
Well we figured out that Mia can not have raisins anymore. She developed this nasty rash about a month ago which made her screammmmm each time we changed it...it was bad. We took her to the docs and they put her on medicated cream which didn't really work that well. The NP there said that it's not from the raisins so we continued giving her raisins which caused her to break out once again a week later. So we aren't giving Mia raisins anymore, b/c obviously she has a reaction to them.
1st Halloween
Mia had her 1st trick or treating experience which was a ton of fun! She loved picking out the lollipops and even grabbed a few candy bars for mommy and daddy. We took some great pics too of course!
Thanksgiving
Mia spent her 2nd Thanksgiving with her baby friends at our friend's house. It was a nice day and dinner and we all had a ton of fun...especially watching the girls run around after each other.
Funny things
One funny thing Mia can do is give high 5s when we ask her. However, since being able to do that, she now knows how to slap us...yeap, right in the face! We tell her "no" when she does that, but I think she thinks we're playing a game. I know she knows what "no" means, I just think she's being defiant sometimes. :) Mia also loves to sit in our bellies and bounce. She also loves to say "up" when she's by the couch/bed/chair etc. We then put her on the couch and her face just lights up! I love it!
Christmas Pics
Today, we went to Sears to get our 2nd Annual Christmas pics taken which was great! Mia did very well sitting with us and by herself, in a chair of course! The pics turned out great!
Home for the Holidays
On Dec. 12th, Josh, Mia and I will be going back east for the holidays. We will be there from the 12th to the 31st, which will be a ton of fun! We hope you have a Merry Christmas and Happy New Year!
