Mia and I are finally back in DE after a visit with our friends in Folsom. What a great time we had! I wish we didn't have to leave!! Mia had a blast with her little girlfriends and boyfriends...it was too cute seeing them together again! We even got a pic of them sitting on a couch...it was priceless! Thanks to
Miki and Tom for letting us stay with them...they were great hosts! We can't wait to come back and visit! We know the West is where our hearts are whether it be Cali or CO. We can't wait to get back!
Well on to Mia's Meltdown at the Sac and Denver Airport. It was hell to say the least! It all started when Mia
couldn't get her way in the Sacramento terminal and it just escalated from there. She was kicking me, tugging my shirt, hitting....you name it, she did it! She was screaming and crying and nothing I did helped. So I pushed the stroller with her behind screaming and crying...we def made a scene. I heard
ppl telling me "you're doing a good job Mom" and others who were smiling and agreeing with what I was doing. However, there were others who didn't feel the same. The "others" were a rude 50 some old lady along with her grumpy elderly companions...her parents. As I walked up to where they were, I stopped and just waited by them since there was no where to sit while Mia took her tantrum. The rude lady goes to Mia "you better calm down right now or you are are going pis*** a lot of
ppl off on the plane!" Now, another bystander (a teacher) and I thought she was just trying to scare Mia but after hearing her mumbling and complaining to her parents, we knew she was serious...and couldn't believe it. She told me that her kids were never like that and I told her that every kid is different...she just shot back some snotty remark once again. That just did it along with her cursing at Mia. I was trying to hold back the tears (it was very very hard and tiring for about 45 minutes and this lady got my very upset) and just
basically told the witch that she better not yell or curse at Mia again. She told me that I need to do something like talk to her (once again in a very demeaning way) and I just told the lady there is nothing else I can do and that was that. She said, "Well I hope you are not sitting by me". I told her that I hope we are! Then about 3 older men (dads I think) came up to me and told me that we can sit by them in front of that lady. They said that they all have kids and they don't mind if we sit by them at all. They were so nice. So this lady and her grumpy parents just talked smack about us while the other lady (the teacher) told me that Mia is being a toddler...and that it's completely normal. She also told me to ignore the rude people b/c obviously they have no clue about kids.
By this point, I was about to explode in tears which were starting to flow. People were getting ready to stand in line and so when the grumpy rude people stood up next to us, the grumpy old man said something rude once again. I didn't know what it was but some dad that was waiting in line told him that he has 3 kids and that throwing tantrums are normal. He also told
grumpy grandpa, "there is nothing that mom can do besides hurt her child to get her to stop and I don't think you want her to hurt her child...or do you?" The old man said, "my kids were never like that" and the dad
basically told him that he prob doesn't remember his kids being like that b/c his wife probably raised them. This dad was giving it to the old man and sticking up for me. It was pretty cool. Then the old man just didn't know when to stop. He continued on with rude comments and the dad told him, "You are an a**hole!" loud and clear for everyone to hear. He said you are causing that mom to cry...you are an a**hole!"
I thanked that guy, another dad who was trying to calm me down and some others who were all sticking up for me. We all couldn't believe how rude these people were...it was sickening. I finally calmed down and so did Mia once we were boarding. The gum that some dad gave me for Mia finally worked and she calmed down as soon as we started to board. PHEW!!! She did perfectly on the way to Denver thankfully!
Once we got to Denver, Mia napped on her stroller for about 1 hour and 20 minutes maybe. Then it was round 2!!
Yeap, tantrum city all over again! She woke up very very very cranky from her nap and it started all over again. I tried everything from talking to her to giving her food, gummy lifesavers, gum. etc. People were asking me if I need help but nothing they did helped...it kind of made Mia more mad. Her tantrum here lasted about 20 minutes and although she almost knocked me and the stroller over a multitude of times, I managed to keep it together thankfully. Mia calmed right down once we were boarding. I swear, it was like a flick of a switch!! She saw gum in my bag (after trying to throw stuff out of it) and asked or a piece...and it worked finally! She calmed right down and that was that. The guy behind me and I were laughing b/c it was just weird to see her go from being a crazy maniac to this sweet little girl. I just think Mia was tired and when she doesn't get her beauty sleep (or enough of it), she is just miserable. Poor little thing...I felt badly, but knew I tried everything I could to calm her down. Mia did great on the flight to
Phili and it was like the meltdown never happened. It was definitely one of those days!
We got in at 3am this morning and I got 3 1/2 hours of sleep before
Keegan woke up. Then I napped while
Keegan napped...that felt great! Mia woke up at noon so she's not going to get a nap today, just a regular bedtime to get her back on east coast time. She is back to her cute little self thankfully and I really hope to not encounter the little monster in Mia again! :) It is great to be home though with my family whom I missed a ton! The weather is beautiful and I think fall is in the air! Stay tuned for pics!
