Experiencing a plane flight like the one we had or having your car, within a few minutes of exiting a major highway, completely shut down on a busy country road with Mia, the dog, the cat, Josh and my mother-in-law in it? Hmmm????
Yeah it wasn't a good experience especially since Josh and I were yelling to pull over and his mom had no where to go. We smelled smoke which scared us especially with Mia in the car. Then once we were able to pull over (once the car shut down on us and we had no power at all including power brakes and windows completely gone and steering too), Seeko hopped out in the road!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Yeah I screamed at him and luckily there were no cars were coming and he came back...phew!
We lucked out that day (Mon night) and a very nice man (a parole officer from NJ) stopped and asked us if we needed help. He waited with us until we heard from the tow truck company and ended up giving me, Josh and Mia a ride back to Josh's parents home. We were thinking though in the back of our mind that we realllllllllly hope he's not dangerous or something. Luckily he wasn't and just him showing me his badge and telling me about his family, I kind of knew he was a good guy...somewhat quiet but really nice. He even checked on Josh's mom after he dropped us off at a nearby gas station to make sure she had a ride and even asked her if she wanted him to bring her a coffee or something while she waited there! How nice was that! You def don't see nice ppl like this now-a-days! We're going to send him a nice thank you note for sure. :)
Oh so yet we experienced another scary incident today...yes, another one! This time it was with Mia whom we think tripped over Josh's backpack and hit her mouth off of a wooden step that leads to the sucken living room. She was trying to step up on it (not a huge step at all) but must have just nipped the backpack and fell. Josh got her and her mouth was full of blood which scared us a ton! Josh thought her bottom tooth fell out which freaked me out but we couldn't tell b/c of the blood and the bits of the banana she was eating. We rinsed her mouth out and within a minute or two, she stopped crying and the blood stopped too. Luckily she only bruised a portion of her bottom lip and nothing else. Phewwwwwww! I thanked god a ton for that! Josh then gave her an ice cube wrapped in a paper towel which she LOVED! She even placed it on her boo boo spot and then sucked on it. We kept having to give her a new one once it got small and she kept saying "ice cube, ice cube"...it was cute! Her lip is fine though and just looks a bit bruised on the right side. We are soooooooooooo thankful it wasn't her tooth! With how loud she screamed and the blood, we definitely thought it was something more than just a busted lip...thankfully it wasn't!
So we've had some fun things happening here....and we've only been back a bit over a week! haha! :)

Our flight to the east coast
Hola Everyone,
We are FINALLY on the east coast after yet another eventful flight!! I don't think I'm ever flying again though...at least not for a while and prob w/o the kiddies. :) Here's why (it's a long one!):
This past Monday was our last day in Cali....and sad day too. We all said goodbye to our friend Miki who was so nice to let us stay with her. As soon as Miki gave Mia a hug, the tears came! I was bawling, MIki was bawling....it was sad. I hate goodbyes, but they are inevitable sometimes. After a tearful goodbye to Miki, we headed to the airport to make our 12:30pm flight...or so we thought. So our cat decided to CLAW his way through the mesh (airline regulated) cat carrier on our way to Sacramento airport...yeah, CLAWED his way right through! His poor head got stuck while trying to get out and we had to rip it more. His little nose was bleeding a bit and his claws were a bit bloody...poor thing. We tried comforting him but to no avail. Our van driver twas nice enough and took us to Pet Smart where we had to get something really quick. They gave us a hard carrier (small one) b/c we were just in a rush to get something quick...and didn't think we'd have a problem with it at the airport. Yeap, I said problem! Go figure with our luck!
Mia did pretty well at the airport and I figured she would nap on our 12:30 flight. Well, I wouldn't know if she would have b/c we were denied from boarding the flight b/c the flight attendant told us that the carrier would prob not fit. They also said that it "poses a threat" b/c it was hard...whateva! Josh went on, as we waited by the door, and came out and told us we we couldn't go on. Mia got sooooooooooo excited to see an airplane and kept saying, "airplane, airplane!" and that all turned to a tantrum when we had to turn around. I MEAN TANTRUM like you've never seen! We were P***** and I was crying along with Mia. US Airways wasn't helpful at all and said that we had no choice but to take the 6pm flight (it was only 12:30 there) and if they were to find us another flight on another airline, they would charge us full price!! It wasn't even our fault, but they said it wasn't theirs either b/c their curbside guys "didn't see the cat in the carrier"....BS! I said there are 3 witnesses who were there and know that they saw the cat. They then said well they are contracted workers which to me is no excuse. We even spoke to the manager who basically said we either pay to fly another airline or we take the 6pm flight. He was nice but nice wasn't cutting it with us. People in the airport told us they felt so badly for us. I felt badly for US Airways b/c of the complaint I'm going to put in b/c I found out on the last leg, which we were told that the carrier was not allowed once again, that we could have brought it on as long as it fits under the seat. Yeah, so that made me more upset. These ppl need to be consistent at what they tell their customers. I'd never had any problems like this with United and prob should have stuck to flying with them instead.
Spending 7 hours in the airport was not fun! We got there at 11am and didn't leave until 6pm. Luckily Mia slept for 2 hours but woke up miserable , throwing more tantrums. The ppl sitting in the terminal prob got a good show that day. While Mia slept, we contemplated on what to do about Onyx. Luckily our friend Scott bought 2 other mesh carriers for us and brought them to the airport which was about a 40 min drive. We were relieved he could do that but knew the mesh carrier might not hold up. Once we got the carrier, we tried onyx out in it (while he was still sedated)
and the stinker tried getting out of it once again! Grrrrrrr! When we put him in the hard one, he was fine. We thought about putting in on a United Cargo flight but decided to sedate him even more (advise from the vet...said Onyx's adrenaline was overpowering the tranquilizers). It worked, but not until half way through the first leg to Phoenix. It was tough for Josh to keep Onyx from ripping through the mesh carrier once again.
Our 6pm flight went very well! We were shocked at how well Mia did actually. Her crankiness stopped (from her nap which ended a bit before we boarded the 6pm flight) once we got on the plane and she just sat in the middle seat (US Airways were kind enough to let my mom, Mia and I have a row to ourselves and gave Josh the row across from us where he and the cat were) with her seat belt for a whole hour! WOW! It was only an hour and 45 min flight and she only got cranky for about 15 mins thankfully. Then she sat with my mom in the window seat for the remainder of the flight watching us as we landed. It was the cutest! The only one who didn't do well on this part of the flight was the cat. Luckily, about half way through the tranquillizers kicked in and he dozed off. Besides that, it was a perfect flight for Mia! Too bad I couldn't say that about the next leg.
The next flight from Phoenix to Phili was very hard. All Mia wanted was ME! She did fine for the first half maybe, but other than that, she wanted "down" (either in the aisle which I wouldn't let her do or by my feet) then "mommy", then "down" again, then "mommy" again. I was so worn out from all this but she would not go to Josh or my mom and would throw a huge fit if I gave her to them. Finally around 12:30am ( 1 1/2 hours into the flight), she started getting tired from being up for 7 hours and after tossing and turning on me, my shoulder, Josh's and my mom's lap (not a fun process), she finally fell asleep on me around 12:50 am until 2:35am. Then for the last 40 mins or so Mia was VERY VERYYYYYYYY cranky and crying a ton b/c she couldn't fall back to sleep in any position she was in. And when she did, she'd wake up screaming bloody murder after l5 mins while everyone else around us was trying to sleep. Once again, it was not fun! I felt so badly for her b/c it looked like she was screaming in her sleep she was so tired. This lasted until we landed unfortunately. Anywho, she slept a bit and so did Josh and my mom, but definitely not enough. I, however, wish I could have slept too but I was so uncomfy b/c our seats wouldn't recline (last row on the plane...lovely!). It stunk for me but oh well.
It was so good to see solid ground once we landed in Phili even though I was up for 21 hours. The weather was really nice at 6 am and we enjoyed the drive to the Carroll's beach house in Dewey Beach, DE...about a 2 hour drive. We got to stop by to see our new house on the way and I absolutely love it along with the cute neighborhood! Then Mia and I slept a bit over an hour to the beach house which was so needed! Once we got there, Mia slept for 7 1/2 hours (had to get her up b/c we weren't sure how long she would sleep and didn't want to get up at 1 am if she got up then) and was fine when she got up thankfully. She then went to bed about 4 hours later and slept another 7 1/2 hours until we got her up at 8am to go pick out hardware for our house today. She was tired!!! I also napped and got a good 5 hours of much needed rest in Tuesday morning. I couldn't believe I slept that long and thought it was only 2 hours! It was soooo nice!
So our trip here to the east coast overall was definitely trying and eventful which was expected with our luck, but we couldn't have done it w/o my mom's help! THANKS MOM! She played with Mia at the airports, got her some cute toys, took her for walks and rides in the stroller...it was so nice to have the help b/c we sooooooo needed it especially going through security with the cat, Mia, our carry on bags, the stroller and the carrier. What a process!!
We are really happy to be back here with our families, but really miss our friends back in Folsom. It was really sad to leave and it's def hitting me that we aren't in Cali anymore. I still tear up, but that's expected. We're excited though that we are within a few hours of our families and will see them a lot more often then we used to. We also can't wait until our house is ready to move in on July 6th (let's hope that date doesn't change!) and for little Keegan's arrival in 15 weeks! So many happy things happening! :)

Update on Mia
Hola Family and Friends,
Well Miss Mobible Mia is almost 22 months and is still as crazy as ever! She has loves to put her cute sunglasses on and walk around with mommy and daddy's shoes. Mia also has a new favorite stuffed animal, her easter bunnies, which she has had all along but never really cared for until Easter. She sleeps with her bunnies each night since last month along with her oso (english...teddy bear) and gato (english...cat). She also lovessss it when mommy chases her and especially tickles her...she's a nut!
Eating wise, I'd say she eats like a bird but birds eat a lot. Mia eating habits are very sporadic. Two weeks ago, she ate very little then last week she ate ok. This week, she's in between again. She eats well at other people's houses though...go figure! She does love fruit especially grapes. She used to love nana (bananas) but as of two weeks ago, she could care less about them. Mia also loves snacks (what toddler doesn't) especially her gold fishies. She also loves trader joes savory rice crackers which my friend from UPS had yesterday. I got some today which Mia will def be happy about.
Mia still sleeps very well and has been napping about 2 1/2 hours each day since last month...nice! I love it b/c I get to sleep too which I'm taking advantage of now before Keegan come in Sept. Lately though, she's been going down crying a lot and not sure why. I'll give her a few minute to see if she calms down and will then go in and rock her. Usually she's fine after that thankfully.
Josh and I noticed a couple days ago that Mia may be getting some new teeth. It's been a while since she's had new ones come in. There are right next to the front lower teeth and I hope they don't cause her discomfort when we fly in 11 days! Grandma will be here though when we fly back so at least we'll have some help. With the cat, our baggage, her stoller and car seat....we'll need all the help we can get!
Another thing that Mia loves is the zoo! I took her there the other day and she loved all the animals she got to see...especially the rooster and peacock. I'll ask Mia, "What does a rooster say" and she says "tata doo doo doo". It's too cute!
Mia's hives have finally gone away thankfully as of last Sunday. I don't know what it was that caused them and I thought it was fruit, but it wasn't. Who knows though! I'm just glad they are gone. :)
Mia also talks non stop! I lost counting how many words she can say but it's probably over 100 since she can repeat whatever we say. Now we really have to watch our language! haha!
Weight wise, Mia prob weighs close to 29 lbs. She weighed 30 at urgent care but that was when she was very squirmy and we had to do it quickly. Length wise, she is LONGGGGGGG! I am not sure how long, but she is tall and skinny! We don't have another appointment for her until she is 2 years old in a couple months...already!!!!
That's all for Mia...as you can tell she is one active toddler and we love it!

Goodbye house :(
Well the movers came today and packed us up...tear tear sniff sniff. Our house is full of boxes galore! Tomorrow (Friday), they will load us up and empty out our little house. Our house is going to look so empty! Mia will love all the room she gets to play in while we clean this weekend though. We have to be out by Mon morning so that means it's cleaning time this weekend. It's going to be sad to leave our house, but so exciting to be closer to everyone back home and to be living in a new home we realllllly LOVE! :)
4th Prenatal Visit
I had my 4th prenatal appointment today and all went well. I weighed in at 134.5 lbs ( 5 1/2 lb gain since last month) for a total of an 18 lb weight gain since my inital "You are prego" visit in Jan. Keegan was moving around like crazy while I was there and the doc was able to find his heartbeat, 140-150s, in no time. My tummy measured at 24cm which is right around what I should measure at 23 weeks. My doc wants to test my thryroid again since they had to increase the dosage last month. She just wants to be sure it's right where it's supposed to be before we migrate back east in 11 days. She then gave me a hug and wished us luck with our move! I hope we can find a nice doctor like her back in Middletown.
All has been going well for me during this pregnancy thankfully as it did with Mia. My nausea has been gone now for 6 weeks and I am sooooooo thankful! I don't have any swelling yet and my weight gain is perfect. I weigh about 7lbs less than what I did with Mia at 23 weeks. It's probably b/c I have an almost 2 year to chase around! haha!! I've also had a ton of movement going on in my tummy and it's just the neatest feeling. Josh and I love feeling Keegan move around at night...it's he's doing somersaults!! Only 17 more weeks until we meet our little baby boy! So exciting!!

Finished with my schooling! Woo Hoo!
Just wanted to let you know that after 2 1/2 years of studying to get my teaching credential (w/ a 6 month break for Mia's arrival), I am finally finished with the program and will receive my post-bach. dipolma at the end of this month! Woo Hoo!!! I am so happy to be finished especially since I am due in Sept. It was def harder to complete my studies online than going to a regular college, but it worked out very well with me being able to complete it during my own time and at home. Once I decide to teach (probably in a few years), I need to take/pass the state's exam where I will be living and then I will be credentialed to teach in that state. :)
We are home owners..again!
Hola Family and Friends,
Just wanted to let you all that we are official owners of a brand new home in Middletown, DE! Woo Hoo! We really loved the house as soon as we saw it (through email from the lender) and seeing it in person really made the trip back east worth while for Josh. His parents, my mom and my sister all got to see it yesterday and fell in love with it too along with the community. Come July, there will be a Resident's Club with a pool for adults and kids, a park, a tot lot, tennis courts, picnic areas and a state-of-the-art fitness center. There is also a golf course nearby which we will definitely take advantage of now that we have babysitters. :) Anywho, they also looked at another model home which they did not like (too clastrophobic-like) among other homes that were for sale. Josh was supposed to meet with our realtor today to view other houses she sent us, but he, my mom, my sis and his parents all feel in love with the model home and none of the other homes really compared to it...it had just too much to offer! So after discussing this home with Josh yesterday and viewing the pics he took, I just knew it was the one too!
This morning, Josh and his parent had to pick out the carpet and granite color. They sent me pics of both and we picked out a color we could change when we fly back (if I don't like it when I see it in person). Josh also picked out the tile for the floors and the color of the hardwood floors that will be in the kitchen, foyer and powder room. Thankfully, all the other room will have carpet (just easier when you have kids who love to fall).
As for the # of rooms etc, our house, the Avebury, has 4 bedrooms, a den/study, a living room, family, kitchen, dining room and a sunroom. It is about 3000 sq. ft....A LOT bigger than our 1354 sq. ft. home we have here in Folsom! I told Josh I may need to get a maid! ha! Josh found out that there is a big storage closet that he could use as his den b/c it's a good size compared to what a closet should be. It has a window too and would be perfect for him he said. If he does that which I think he is going to do, then we will use the den downstairs as a playroom for Mia and Keegan. We'll also put our futon in there for guests (although we will have a guest room upstairs).

Josh, Mia and I will be leaving Cali two weeks tomorrow! We still can't believe we are actually leaving! It's hard to imagine not being here anymore and not seeing our friends, but we know we will be just as happy, if not happier, being in DE, closer to family and friends.
Just wanted to let you all that we are official owners of a brand new home in Middletown, DE! Woo Hoo! We really loved the house as soon as we saw it (through email from the lender) and seeing it in person really made the trip back east worth while for Josh. His parents, my mom and my sister all got to see it yesterday and fell in love with it too along with the community. Come July, there will be a Resident's Club with a pool for adults and kids, a park, a tot lot, tennis courts, picnic areas and a state-of-the-art fitness center. There is also a golf course nearby which we will definitely take advantage of now that we have babysitters. :) Anywho, they also looked at another model home which they did not like (too clastrophobic-like) among other homes that were for sale. Mia's hives are back!
Just an update on Mia's hives.....
This morning, Mia woke up with no hives so I thought they were gone and that it was only an over night thing. Once we got home from a playgroup today around noon, Mia grabbed her upper arm and said, "Hot, Hot!" when I was taking her out of her car seat. Then when I changed her, I noticed that both upper arms were now covered in hives! It looked so painful, but thankfully it's not bothering her. I then gave her some benedryl which I hope will clear it up. I'm sure it will for a few hours but the hives will prob return like they did today. Thankfully the hives are not contagious or bothering her.
Last night the urgent care doc said to call our doc's office if the hives come back to see if there is anything else we could give her, but they closed at noon today. So I called our pharmacist and he said benedryl is the only thing to give her. I'm going to leave a msg at our doc's office though to see what they say.
I still wonder what the heck caused the hives? It could have been the dried fruit pieces (never had them before) I gave her yesterday afternoon so maybe I should stay away from them for a bit? Who knows!
I'll keep you posted on her condition as usual.

Mia's 1st case of hives
Well today after Mia woke up from her 3 hour nap (NICE!) at 4:30, Josh noticed a red swelling and bumpy marks on her upper arm area and we weren't sure what to make of it. It wasn't a lot but enough to make us wonder. After an hour it went away but it came back after I gave her a bath, but this time on her butt and lower leg. I figured I better take her to urgent care to see what the heck it was and plus I wasn't sure how much it would have spread in the a.m. if I didn't take her. The rash looked pretty looked painful, but Mia didn't even know it was there. Anywho, I took her to urgent care and when the doc looked at her, I noticed that both her butt checks were now red raw and looked like chapped skin with some bumps on them. The rash didn't seem to bother Mia which was good b/c he said it usually is pretty itchy. He said it is probably hives which is not contagious and where it came from they can't really pinpoint. He said it's probably from the flu she had a week ago or something she ate recently. He gave her some Benedryl which hopefully will kill the rash. If not, I have to take her to our doc tomorrow to see what other meds she can give her. I just hope this rash will clear up tomorrow sometime and not spread anymore. The doc said it can take a day...or a week. Let's hope it's a day!
Poor thing has had pink eye, ear infections and now this. I guess there's a first time for everything!

Mia
Well Mia is growing fast and doing well. She is a blast to be around and has so much energy! Since my last post last month, she continues to repeat the words we ask her to say. I think I've lost count of how many words she can say! She started saying "Gato eating" yesterday and still tells us other things such as when she poops and pees. Lately, she's been pooping during her naps which causes her naps to become messed up. For instance, today she napped 30 mins until a #2 hit and has been in her crib chatting for 40 mins or so. Josh had to go in and give her milk which she chugged at 3:40 and put her back down....she's still talking though and not sure if she's going to nap. If not, we will put her down early.
Other than that, Mia learned how to climb on the coffee table yesterday...little stinker! She also learned how to say "gatita" for cookie or tries to...she's saying it now in her crib. Mia also got to experience the water spouts at the park on Monday which she absolutely loved! She's been in it last summer, but she's just much more aware of it now than she was then. She also loves to push around her stroller and read her books especially the Spanish one from her godfather Greg. She has yet to put on the slippers he bought her but eventually she will I'm sure!

Mia and Mommy got the flu
So last Friday we were at Josh's group's family picnic when Mia started vomiting about 20 mins after we got there. Out of the blue, it just came out when we were giving her fruit which she handed back to me. Poor thing! She did that twice and luckily I had an extra pair of clothes with me which she didn't want to wear. It was hot out so she was fine w/ just a diaper. I took her home a short time after and after throwing up one more time and then getting a 20 min bath, she was fine and was back to herself thankfully. She was even eating! :) Luckily that bug only last a short amount of time and she was good to go by the time she went to bed. However, now I have what she had and I just feel like crap! I haven't thrown up but felt like doing so this morning. I was in bed for most of the day and laying down. Hopefully I feel better tomorrow!
