BABY KEEGAN MICHAEL CARROLL IS HERE!

Hi Everyone!!

Well as most of you know, baby Keegan Micheal Carroll was born yesterday, Aug. 24th at 12:03pm! He weighed 7 lbs 8.7 oz and was 20 1/2 in long (he and Mia were the same length). Josh and I got to the hospital around 9am for my scheduled c-section that was supposed to be at 11am....it was kind of weird knowing that I was going to definitely deliver yesterday but pretty nice at the same time. I wouldn't have to go through all those hours of labor (35 to be exact) that I had with Mia and all those drugs I had in me. This time, it was way different. Anywho, there were some delays which pushed back my surgery until 11:30am and once that time came, I was a bit nervous but very excited! They wheeled me in, gave me a spinal anesthesia (which hurt like HELL! I didn't feel much last time with Mia b/c I was a bit drowsy from the meds) which made me go numb from the waist down and then it was time! In the meantime though, I had a hard time catching my breath and laying on my back at the same time...kind of felt like I was going to have an anxiety attack. The surgery team then straightened me out (had me tilted a bit) which worked! Phew! I was nervous that I wasn't going to be able to lay flat on my back for the surgery. Shortly after, they brought Josh in and at 12:03 (25 mins after getting into the OR), Keegan Michael Carroll was born! It was such an amazing moment which I'll never forget! I cried when I heard him crying and when they briefly showed me him over the curtain. I just couldn't believe he was here!

When they were cleaning Keegan up, they said he had some fluid in his lungs which made him use his stomach muscles more than he should for breathing. However, they kept an eye on him and within no time, he was good. We were a bit scared, but they told us this was normal for c-sectioned babies.

Keegan had his first visitors a couple hours after he was born. My brother and his girlfriend surprised us and got to see Keegan only hours after her was born (I knew they were coming but wasn't sure when). They stayed for a while which was nice and took tons of pics of little Keegan! :) I think my brother was definitely proud of his little nephew! haha! Then Keegan's nana, pop pop and big sister came later on which was nice too.

Keegan's first day went pretty welll...it was his first night that didn't. He slept off and on and I think I may have gotten a couple hours of sleep last night...it was worth it though, I really didn't mind. Josh helped me out when I needed to get him out of his bassinet and put him back in...he is such a good daddy!

Today, Keegan did very well and all three of us took a good 3 hour nap this afternoon...Keegan slept a bit longer. It felt great to get some much needed sleep! He also nursed very well and is a little sucker like his sister was. I got to speak with a lactation consultant who said he is latching on correctly and that I shouldn't have any issues with him nursing. She told me to feed him every 2-3 hours during the day and not to wake him at night....let him sleep and wake up when he is hungry. The nurses also told me this just b/c he is getting enough during the day and is peeing and pooping well too.

I am doing well after my c-section yesterday and will get to go home Monday (I'm on the hospital's wireless network as we speak). I was pretty numb for a few hours after the surgery and once that wore off, the pain struck! Luckily, the meds they gave me helped a bit. I did get nauseous though a few times when the meds when through my I.V.(I forget the name the of it) just like I did in the operating room which wasn't fun. The nausea didn't last long thankfully and the nurse said it was b/c my BP was fluctuating. Luckily, I didn't get nauseous today and got to walk for the first time which was painful. It's not as painful now walking around and it does get easier with time. However, I am pretty itchy where the incision is. Can't wait to shower tomorrow!

So as you can we are doing well and loving being parents once again! Keegan has been such a great baby and we are very blessed to have him in our life. Mia is loving being a big sister and it was such a priceless moment yesterday when she saw him for the first time. She said, "Baby Keegan!" It was awesome! I'm sure she will be a great big sis!

Tomorrow, Keegan is getting circumcised :( and luckily it's a veryyyy quick procedure. The nurse told me the babies hate it worse when they are strapped down more than they do the procedure (they are numb for it). I don't know if we can be in the room and if we are, Josh will go in...I wouldn't be able to stomach it. Keep us in your prayers that all goes well for Keegan.

If you haven't checked out our pics, feel free to do so below. We took some more today which we will send out tomorrow.

Thanks for all your thoughts, prayers, emails, calls...we appreciate! :)

Cathy, Josh, Mia and baby Keegan :)

Mia Update

Well Mia has been your typical 2 year old running around like crazy and keeping her mommy on her toes. She loves to watch her Baby Einstein DVDs and also lovessss Elmo's Potty Time which Josh got her a couple weeks ago. Mia is always in her playroom but somehow her toys end up in the family room. Go figure! She loves to push around her dolly stroller and shopping cart and as of recently, likes spitting her water into cups!? Don't ask! I caught her spitting her water on the hardwood floor the other day and had to take her water away which she didn't like. Not sure where she got that from but she's still doing it. Maybe it's a 2 year old thing? Who knows!

Mia's appetite is that of 2 year old...sporadic! She'll eat well one day and not so great the next. She does loveee fruit though so that's good...especially blueberries and strawberries!

Since Mia is now 2, I have to schedule her well baby appt which means shot time! :( I have a pediatrician for her but am just waiting for her records to be released to me. Once I do that, I can schedule an appt for her. She is def not going to like getting shots!

Mia's vocabulary is off the charts...it's amazing how far she has come since we got here! She really can't stop talking...haha...guess she's like her mommy! She can say complete sentences just about (ex. gato's in the poopie) and loves to sing to herself when it's sleepy time...I need to get it on tape! She can also count to 10 by herself and can almost do it in Spanish. It's just too cute!

Anywho, Mia is doing great and I can't wait to see how she will interact with Keegan! If it's the ways she interacts with her baby dolls after playing with them for 10 mins, I better watch out! She'll throw them and say, "Baby crying". HAHA! I'm sure she'll be a great big sis!

We'll keep you posted on any more news as it comes along though!

Cathy, Josh, Mia and soon-to-be Keegan

38 Week Prenatal Appt (almost 38 weeks)

Hi Guys,

I had my 38 week appt today (had to cancel my one last Friday) and all is going well but with no dilation. I didn't think I'd be dilate just from past experience. :) My doc said my BP is good, my weight is 147lbs (didn't gain anything in 2 weeks), I'm measuring right at 38 weeks which is what I'll be tomorrow and I'm good to go for my c-section on Friday, Aug 24th! WOW! I have to call the day before to find out the time and my doc said most likely it will be in the morning. I have no swelling at all with pregnancy but I am prettttty limited on what I can can since I don't fit into much of what I wore with Mia at this stage two years ago. I do have a lot of movement and I think he's making his way down as of this week b/c of the pressure I've been feeling. Other than that, all is going well with this pregnancy thankfully and we look forward to Fri. Aug. 24th when we'll finally get to meet our little baby Keegan! We'll keep you posted as usual! :)

Have a nice day,

Cathy, Josh, Mia and soon-to-be baby Keegan

36 Week Prenatal Appointment

Hi Guys,

I had my 36 week appointment today and all went well. I'm not dilated yet and my doc said I have a lot to go, but that Keegan's head is down. I weighed in at 147 lbs, 3 1/2 lb weight gain since my appt 2 weeks ago, and am really all belly w/ no swelling anywhere. My doc said she would have hated me when she was prego but since she's not, she likes me...haha! :) I think I gained about 30 lbs so far and I have 3 weeks to go. I'm definitely a bit away from my 48 lb weight gain I had with Mia...that was mostly all water.

My C-section is all set to go on Fri. Aug. 24th, but I won't know the time until the date gets closer. I asked my doc how long it will be before I can pick up Mia and she said at least 6 weeks but could be 8. Josh said he'll get Mia up, put her down for naps and bedtime too...and also he'll prob have to put her in her highchair for me unless we get a booster that we can just sit on the floor. I also asked if I could climb stairs and my doc said at first, I'll prob only be able to do it once-twice a day but once I start feeling better, there's no limit...just have to be careful though.

My next appointment is in one week on Fri. Aug 10th. I may have to reschedule it though b/c Josh will be gone to Cali for work from this Sunday for one week and I'm not sure who can watch Mia since we are just getting to know our neighbors.

I only have 3 weeks to go and still have a lot to do in his room. We just bought a crib and changing table which will be here in a week....funny thing is is that it is the same one my twin got and I didn't even know until I asked her! I attached pics of the crib and changing table...they're actually pics from Patsy's nursery. We're also getting bedding we saw the other night at Babies R Us...I attached a pic. We were going to get one similar to Patsy's (critters), (once again, I didn't realize she picked out something similar to what we liked...we must have that twin thing!), but Josh really likes the Lil Dino bedding so we may go with that instead. Mia and I will venture out next week to get the bedding so we'll have it before the crib gets here. The only thing we prob can't do before Keegan gets here is paint. We'll prob do that after his arrival so I can help Josh with it.

Other than that, all is well here and we look forward to celebrating Mia's 2nd bday (actual bday was 3 weeks ago...yes, she will have had 2 bdays for her 2nd bday...haha) at Dewey Beach tomorrow with the Carrolls and their friends. The weather should be nice once again and we look forward to taking Mia to the beach...hopefully she'll like the sand and ocean this time around! :)

Hope all is well with you all!

Love,

Cathy, Josh, Mia and soon-to-be Keegan

Finally in our new house!

Hi Guys,

Just wanted to send this all out in one big email so here goes:

Josh, Mia and I are finally in our new home in Middletown, DE which we realllly love! Josh has been here over a week already and Mia and I came almost a week ago. It's taking us a while to unpack everything and I think we got most of the downstairs completed. You should have seen what it looked like when we first got here...boxes everywhere!! We just have to get some dining room furniture and a sectional for the family room. Then we can put our old furniture in the living room since they pull out to beds. We're getting our king bed tomorrow and are putting our queen bed in the guest bedroom. Our new bed is a cherry slay bed which it's so nice and the mattress is very comfy too! The next room to get furnished after that is Keegan's room which we are going to look into getting this week sometime. Since Mia is still in her crib and hasn't tried to escape yet (we had to put the back of the crib facing forward b/c Mia likes to jump in her crib and with the front rail being low, we're afraid she'll def try to escape), we're going to keep her in it until we transition the crib to a toddler bed. We figured why fix something if it's not broken. So Keegan will get a convertible crib also! Gotta love shopping!

Other than that, it's really nice here and has a country-ish feel to it. The houses are absolutely gorgeous and more are being built as we speak. Our neighbors are soooo nice which we are thankful for and there are a lot of kids and dogs too. Just yesterday they started the construction of the Resident's Clubhouse and will be also completing the 8-acre park complete with a kiddie pool, kid playground, adult pool, tennis courts and baseball fields which is expected to be done by next summer I think. I can't wait for it all to be finished! Should be even nicer! :)

Well as many of you know, Mia turned the big TWO on Sat July 14th. Below is the link to pics from her party which we had on her actual bday. We had a BBQ in my parents backyard and had close to 50 (mostly family) ppl over. Mia had a great time with her little cousins and loved the cupcake she got to eat! When we all sang happy bday to her, she just stared and even tried to sing the "Happy Bday" part...it was so cute! She just stared at us all while we sang to her...and of course I got it on video (link below). Now she can't stop singing it!! haha!! Once she got her cupcake (which I thought she was doing to dig right into b/c she LOVES cupcakes!), she was a bit apprehensive at first until she saw her cousins eat their cupcakes...then it was messy time! We all had a great time (and lots of help setting and cleaning up thankfully!) and the weather couldn't have been more perfect! Mia gets to experience this all over again at the beach house for the Carroll's party on Aug. 5th! Oh boy!

Another update I wanted to tell you about is my prenatal checkup I had last week. All went well thankfully! My BP was 110/70, weight was 143 1/2 lbs (gained about 21/2 lbs in 3 weeks and about 27 lbs total) and according to my docs I was 33 weeks and 6 days (as of last Thurs). According to my previous Cali doc's calculations however, (which I've been going along with), I'm two days behind that but both gave me the same due date of Sept. 1. Anywho, Keegan was moving around right when she went to listen to his HB...my tummy was doing the wave. :) She told me they are going to try to get me in for the c-section on Aug. 24th and luckily we were able to get that date (w/ an on call doc though in Dover where I will be delivering). They were looking into doing it on Aug. 27th but they couldn't get it b/c both docs were off then (we would have had the same bday!!!, but then my mom wouldn't have been able to be there b/c of school). It's all set though for Friday Aug., 24th and we'll know at what time when the day gets closer. My next appt is on Aug. 3rd and during that appt, they will check me for dilation. After that, my appts are once/week until Keegan's debut! SO EXCITING!!!! We can't wait!

I attached pics from the 4th of July of me and Patsy (who's 3 weeks ahead of me), Mia eating her cupcake (cute caption Aunt Beck!) and then her and my mom...too cute! Although it was a rainy, chilly day, we all had a good time!

Enjoy the pics and video below (updated pics of our house to come as soon as it's clutter free). :)

Love,

Cathy, Josh, Miss Mia and soon-to-be Keegan
