Doctors, More Teeth!

Well I had to take Mia to the docs this morning b/c she has been congested now for a few weeks but just lately, she's been coughing a lot. Our doc said everthing sounds and looks good and that she prob caught a cold from another baby. Plus, she is teething and has a lot of post nasal drip which is causing her to cough a lot. She said to bring her back in a week if she hasn't improved.

Weight wise, Mia is gaining. She was 20lbs 13oz at her last appt one month ago and now is 22lbs 12oz (w/clothes on this time...really about 22lbs 4oz). She is getting big!

I noticed today when Mia was laying on my legs that her top molars are coming in. She now has 4 teeth coming in including the ones next to the top front. Her molars are through, but barely. These def weren't nearly as bad at the top front ones were thankfully!

Mia Pia

Well Mia is doing better than she was last week. She has no temp but still is a tad bit congested and woke up a few mornings ago with some snots pasted to her nose...poor thing! She has also been sleeping for 12+ hours at night since she had her fever last week! I am loving it and taking advantage of sleeping in late too!

Mia went to the gym child care today but did not do too well. She cried almost the entire time and they finally paged me after 30 mins. When I went in she was hyperventilating a bit but calmed down once she saw me. I gave her some milk which helped a bit but not enough to stay longer. I think she is still not used to me leaving her especially in a new environment. She hasn't been the child care there since the middle of June so it's been a while. I'm sure she'll get better...just going to take some time for her to get used to it.

As for new things, Mia likes to spin around and get herself dizzy as of yesterday. It's the funniest thing especially when she stumbles and falls down. She is a nut! She also loves to rub her butt against things like our couch and doors. Not sure where she gets that from though? Mia also loves to throw her food when she is threw with eating and seeko looks forward to that each time she is in her highchair. :)

I'm trying to convert Mia over to a sippy cup during the day when it's milk time and today she did well at taking it from the cup. She still loves her bottle but our doc said by 15 months, she should 100% sippy. I'll wean her slowly starting with the daytime milk, then I'll wean the morning one and bedtime one eventually. Mia likes her sippy but I think she is used to taking water out of it not milk.

Other than that, Mia is a very happy baby who brings joy to our life every day! I love being her mom and being able to stay home with her. It's the best job ever and I look forward to playing with her each day. Josh also loves being a daddy to Mia and loves coming home and spending time with her. She is daddy's little girl for sure and mommy's little angel!

ER and high temp

Well last night after Mia woke up from her last nap at 6pm, she had a highhhhh temp of 105.5! Josh called me at the gym and I came right home b/c we've never seen it this high...very scary. We gave her a cool bath which she hated and cried during but a bottle of milk helped keep her in it for a few minutes. We also gave her some tylenol/motrin which we were doing since she got the high temp of 103 on Wed at noon. When we went to Urgent Care thurs night (b/c Mia's fever wasn't going down from 103), the doc there said to bring her in there or the ER if her temp gets worse or if she seems larthargic. She wasn't all that lathargic but def not herself w/ such a high temp. We ended up taking her to the ER right around 7pm (her temp went down to 102.5 there) only to be told the same thing the Urgent Care doc told us....it's viral and it will break eventually. The doc there said to give her tylenol and motrin at the same time b/c they work on different pathways. She also said to keep giving her a cool bath and by doing that and giving her the meds every 4 hours for tylenol and 6 for Motrin (that means waking her up out of her sleep :( ), her temp should break in the next day or two. Well we think it broke last night when we put her to bed. I noticed her head and back were all wet when we were "trying" to put her down and after taking her temp, we were happy to see it was back to normal. Too bad it took us 4x and almost two hours to her to stop screaming and fall asleep. At 2:30am, Josh went in to give her motrin and tylenol (what a nice hubby I have!) and her temp was still normal. :) He said she was soooo tired that she was sleeping on the changing table!

This morning, Mia is doing much better and her temp is still normal at 97. She is herself and eating which she has been doing since she has had the high temp but more playful today and less clingy. I don't what she had and the docs said it could have been anything. Thank god her temp is normal and she is Miss Mobile Mia again!

Urgent Care Thurs Aug 11

Well we had to take Mia to urgent care b/c her temp has been 103 to 103.5 since Wednesday and after waking up at 7am today, it is still that high. :( The doc there said it's viral and to keep giving her Tylenol, since it seems to work better for her than Motrin, to bring the fever down. He said she doesn't have pneumonia and that her cough is from her nasal drip. He also said that the fever could last up to 4 days, today is day 3, and to bring her back in on Sunday if it is still that high. We also have to bring her in if she gets lethargic and stops eating. Then they'll run some blood tests and take some x-rays. Hopefully it won't come down to that. Anywho, Mia is drinking, eating, playing and sleeping well (slept 14 hours Tues night and 14 1/2 hours Wed night prob b/c of her high fever) which the doc said is a good sign. In the mean time, I have to stay away from babies until Mia gets better, b/c it is contagious. I'll keep you all posted and let you know how it goes this weekend.

More teeth?

really think Mia is getting more teeth due to her inconsoleable behavior since going to bed last Sun night. She does not go right down for us and it's been taking about 3-4x for us to get her to finally sleep w/o screammmmmmmmmmming to the top of her lungs! Last night, she ran a high fever of 103 and went right down at 7pm-9:30am w/ a one time awakening b/c of poop at 10:45pm. SHE SLEPT LONG! I was shocked but it was prob due to her fever and her being really mellow yesterday afternoon until bedtime. She was just not herself at all. Plus with her congestion/runny nose she has (not so runny today except when she is crying), she can't really suck her fingers when she goes to bed (can't breahe if she does). Poor thing. :( Let's hope these stinken teeth pop up soon! Our doc said she's getting lots! OH GREAT!

Mia's got a cold prob due to teeth

Since Sun night, Mia has been refusing to go to bed for us and just last night she went right down. :) However, she acted up again tonight and it took us 3x to get her to finally go to sleep..poor thing! It's all due to her being congested since Monday night . She developed a cold and a very runny nose which is prob due to teeth once again. Let's hope these teeth aren't as bad at the top front were!! I'll keep you posted!

ONE YEAR CHECKUP, STATS

At her docs appt on July 26, Mia's stats were:

Weight= 20lbs 13oz, 50% tile
Height= 30 inches, 95% tile
Head = 17 1/4, 25% tile

Our doc said she is finally in the 50% tile for her weight and that her length has been the same for a while now. She said that Mia is growing perfectly and that the little red mark on her back is not growing (hemangoma). She also told us that Mia would be getting three shots, one for hepatitus, phenumonia, and chicken pox. Mia SCREAMED bloody murder when she got all three and we all felt so badly. She calmed down about 5 mins later which was great, b/c she was crying pretty badly. Poor thing!! Thankfully all went well and she won't need to go to the docs again until Oct when she will be 15 months...already!

ONE YEAR OLD MIA!

Well Mia is now 1 year old and she has been doing a lot of new things. She knows where her eyes, ears, mouth and nose are and knows how to put things on her head and face liek sunglasses and hats. Mia knows how to kick a ball when we ask her to...it's the cutest thing! She can also find something when we ask her to get it like her blanker or the bottle. When we ask her to lay down on her blanket, she does exactly that and when we ask her to give her baby a bottle, she knows how to do that too...it's pretty amazing to say the least.

As of Monday, Mia realized that she can run...it's cute to see. My mom and I bought her her first pair of walking shoes (2 pairs for the price of 1!) at the outlets two days ago and she just loves walking and running in them. Mia also knows that she can throw food...yes throw food, actually launch it! She's been doing that since maybe Tuesday when she got her nasty cold and doesn't want to eat. As I went to feed her a couple days ago, she put her hand out and the sweet potatoes went alllll over the wall....lovely! I think it just may be b/c of her cold or maybe she's getting to the point where she's going to be a picky eater? Who knows!

Eating wise, Mia can eat anything we eat now that she is one, except for anything that contains nuts. We still give her baby food along with people food. She likes eggs, but just not the texture. She likes toast too and had her first pancakes after her docs appt...def liked those especially the blueberry syrup!

As far as milk, Mia is through with nursing as of July 14th (her bday)...that was the first time she decided to stop nursing during her only feeding off me in the morning. Since I stopped nursing during the day and night, I then stopped completely the next day during the morning which Mia did not mind at all. We started giving her whole milk after her docs appt on July 26th and she had some at IHOP which she took with no problem...thankfully! It was cold but she chugged it down with a straw which she thought was cool.

Sleep wise, Mia is still a good sleeper sleeping 10 hours or so at night. Last night, she slept almost 11 hours and then went down again for another hour and 10 mins! I think she is starting to get some more teeth and with her cold, she's just one tired baby. She also naps well and has been napping about 2 hour naps since we first arrived on the east coast on June 30th. Her naps used to last about 1 1/2 hours and I just love the extra half hour I get to clean and do school work! :)

Mobility wise, she is one MOBILE baby! She walks very well and runs too. She crawls every now and then I think b/c she misses it and then realizes she can get there faster by walking. Mia is trying to get past the barricade we have in our little hallway and knows how to crawl under the jumper to do so. We are waiting to get a baby gate for the kitchen area and just don't want her to get in there until we get the gate. Once we do get the gate, we'll put two up and she can have the hallway to roam around in also.

Babble wise, she still says dada, sometimes mama, talks to herself in little conversations, says ock and ite every now and then, knows where the fan, light and clock all are when asked (points to them), and made up her own little babble when she launches her food (sounds like swoosh...quit laughing! ;) ). She is a talker just like her mommy!

Other than that, Mia is doing very well and we just love being parents! I still can't believe she is one year old and it's just crazy how fast it all went by. We love Mia very much and look forward to the many other milestones that are about to come her way. :)

HOME SWEET HOME

Well Mia turned one on July 14th and since then she has had 3 1st bday parties!! Talk about doing it big! She had one bday at my inlaws beach house on July 8, one on July 15th at my sister's new house in Marysville, PA and then one last Sunday July 30 for our friends here in Folsom. We had a lot of fun at each, Mia loved her cupcakes and her own little cake she had on Sunday and I was kind of relieved to know that there will be no more bday parties until next year! :) Mia got a lot of cool toys which she loves along with some cute clothes which she def has a lot of. Gotta love having a girl!

Mia and I returned home from PA on July 24 after having an okay plane flight here. My mom came with us so that was nice to have extra help. Mia did better than she did flying to PA and was pretty antsy and cranky from Phili to GA which the baby hater next to my mom did not like. Mia accidentally spilled my mom's drink on him and my mom and he got all mad. I apologized and he said, "I knew it was going to happen, I just didn't think it'd be this soon!" My mom and I looked at each other and couldn't believe he said that...what a jerk! Anywho, Mia did not sleep from Phili to GA, a 2 hour flight and luckily there was a kid in front of us who was keeping Mia busy. She also kept busy in the GA airport and was wired from lack of sleep. Mia was craacking everyone up in the GA terminal (she was laughing loudly prob b/c she was wired for being up for about 11 hours!) and it all caught up with her on the flight to SAC where she crashed on me for over 4 hours, the entire way home! NICE! We arrived home safely thankfully late Monday night and got a good night's rest. Mia went right down for us w/o a problem too which was nice b/c we were beat!
