Since we've been on the east coast (almost three weeks), Mia's been doing some new things. She now says "ite" for light and "ock" for clock. She knows how to give her baby a bottle or her sippy when we say "Mia, give your baby some water or give her the bottle". She also puts or tries to put socks on her feet and sandals too when we say "Mia, put the socks/sandals on your feet"...it is too cute! She also will try to pull up your shirt and look for your bellybutton so watch out!! Mia can also blow kisses (I showed her how to do it last week and she picked it up within minutes!) by putting her hand to her mouth...I love it! She doesn't know how to blow them yet...have to work on one thing at at time. :)
Mia also knows where her eyes, ears and mouth are when we ask her where they are. For instance, I'll say, "Mia, where are your eyes?" Or, "Mia, donde estan los ojos? " (I'm still trying to teach her spanish) and she'll point to them on my face or hers. When I ask her where her ears are, she'll lean her head to one side and look at my ears...priceless!
As you can tell, Mia has learned a lot since we've been here and she is also walking very well. She can walk well on hard surfaces and hardly crawls anymore. She also decided to stop nursing off of me (sat July 15th) prob b/c there's nothing there anymore. I did not feel engorged (haven't for months), didn't feel any pain...just felt nothing. It felt right to do b/c she loves her bottle and the formula. It didn't even faze her that she's not nursing off me anymore. She doesn't cling on me or anything, b/c if she did, I'd feel badly and may give in and nurse her. :) I was ready for her to stop nursing b/c I wasn't giving her much lately. She just didn't seem satisfied as of last week after she would nurse the first feeding. I stopped the nightime feedings on June 13th, the two daytime feedings on June 30th and then the early morning one on July 16th (woudn't nurse off me once again...so I said I'm done!). I'm glad I did it for one year and look forward to breastfeeding again with our other babies which we hope to have! :)

Mia's 1st Birthday Parties
Well Miss Mia had herself a blast at her 1st birthday parties, one at the in-laws beach house in Dewey Beach, DE(July 8th)and the other at my sister's in Marysville, PA (July 15th). On her real bday, July 14th, at 10:03pm EST (7:03 PST), my family, me, Josh and my sister's man, all sang "Happy bday" to Mia. It was really cute!
At her birthday parties, Mia got to taste her first vanilla cupcake at the Carrolls party which she loved and her first chocolate cupcake at Aunt Patsy's which she devoured once again. She definitely loves sweets!!! Mia also got to enjoy the sprinkler which we had at my sister's b/c it was sooooo HOT (100 w/ humidity!)!! She absolutely loves the water especially in the inground pool they had at the beach house. We couldn't get her out of it! :)
Mia got tons of cute clothes and some toys which we may have to ship or just leave here at my parents house. She got her first....cabbage patch doll, American baby doll, winnie the poo bear, wagon with lego blocks (loves it!), purse w/ cell phone, compact and little change purse and a sunflower purse amongst other goodies. We got both parties on video and took tons of pics (which will be coming out with the update next week). Thanks to Patsy, Kieran and the Carrolls for hosting the parties! We really had a great time at both celebrations!
Mia and I are still on the east coast until Monday the 24th (Josh flew back this past Monday) when we head back to Cali with my mom thankfully. She'll be staying at our place for two weeks which she is excited for. That means more free babysitting!! :)
Josh, Mia and I defintely enjoyed our stay here and will be visiting again in Sept. for my cousin's wedding which we are looking forward to. :)

Visiting Eynon, PA
JULY 12, 2006
Eynon, PA
Just wanted to drop a quick hello from lovely Scranton, PA where it is currently raining...ewwww! It's prob in the 70's and a muggy so it feels warmer. The humidity hasn't bothered me too much but I do feel the stickiness which sometimes can be a bit much! i don't know which is worse.....85 degrees w/ 85% humidity or 110 degrees with no humidity! It's tough too b/c my parents don't have central air like we do back home and only have AC in their bedroom. Yeah it stinks, but thankfully my dad bought an air conditioner which is sitting in front of me waiting to be installed. Not sure when he is going to do it b/c he works late and is usually very tired when he gets home. Oh well! Luckily, it's cooler out today so it shouldn't be too bad. Plus, my parents have a pool which he jumped in last night to cool off...it was a bit cold but nice!
Anywho, Miss Mia will be turning 1 year old this Friday at 7:03pm....I still can't believe it! Since we've been here, she's learned to say clock and light....sounds like "ock" and "ite". She did that while we were at dewey beach almost a week ago...it was cute! Oh and as of two days ago, Mia can blow kisses!!! It was pretty cool to see her do it after I showed her how to do it a few times. She picked it right up! Another thing she is doing is sleeping 12 hours at night! Yeahhhhh niceeee!! She did that for the past two nights and prob is b/c she napped two naps, not three. We kind of pushed out her 2nd nap yesterday b/c we went out for wings and Mon, she got up late from her 2nd nap and went to sleep at 9:15 (my time). The nice thing is is that she'll go back down for another hour or so too! She def loves to sleep...must take after her mommy! ;)

Back in PA, 1st 4th of July
July 05, 2006
We made it safely to the east coast last Friday morning after a long, tiring, very hard and draining flight(s). We had a very tough time, but luckily we got through it. :) All I have to say is remember those babies on the plane who would scream to to the of their lungs and those parents who tried their best to calm them down but had no luck? Well that was us, literally!
Miss Mia did not do well at all and seriously screameddddddddddddddd her brains out on each of the 3 legs we had to Phili. She did fine in the airports b/c she got to walk around which she loved. Once we got on the planes though, it was a different story. We weren't able to get Mia a seat b/c of the price and thought she'd be fine sitting on our laps....boy were we wrong! She screamed bloody murder most of the time flailing her arms and was really inconsolable. We kept passing her b/t the both of us thinking she'd calm down, but it only got worse. Josh and I had a very hard time this time around and we think it was mainly due to her top teeth coming in (b/c that's how she was for the two days before we left...not napping, cranky etc)....poor thing. Nothing really worked and we even gave her benedryl on the flight from Utah to GA which made her sleepy but not as quickly as we would have liked. Mia did finally sleep on the flight from Utah to GA for about 2 hours but woke up really cranky. Anywho, the flight from GA to PHL was prob the worse of them all and I felt pretty badly for the guy sitting next me and even gave him a warning that we have a very cranky baby which he was fine about. Mia was veryyyyyyyyyyy fidgety, fussy, you name it, she was it! We had no idea what to do except try to get her to sleep b/c she needed it badly! She finally feel asleep with her fingers in her mouth prob b/c she was too weak to scream and cry anymore and slept for about 2 hours on me (including getting off the plane with her in my arms and staying asleep until we got to baggage claim). She woke up happy and lasted for about 30 mins until we got her in the car seat, then all hell broke loose again. Once she found her fingers though, she was out like a light and slept another 1 1/2! The trip to the east coast took a pretty heavy toll on poor Mia...and us. :(
It's been great since we arrived last Friday and beautiful too! We got to take Mia in the inground pool here at the beach house in Dewey Beach, DE which she loves! Today, we took Mia to the beach for the 1st time and got some cute pics/videos of her in the sand and even eating it! Too cute! She was pretty apprehensive of the sand at first until she got to walk in it. I don't know if she really liked the sand just b/c of how it felt. She did well playing in it though. Mia also got to see the ocean for the first time and got to feel the water on her little feet which she really liked. We took her today b/c it was partly cloudy and the sand wasn't hot like it was the other days.
Other than that, Mia has been doing great adjusting to the new environment. She's been napping very well during the day (about 2 hours each time....better than at home!) and sleeps about 10 hours at night...the first night she slept 15 hours (after taking two 2 hour naps!) b/c she was so tired from flying. We're keeping her on Cali time which we did in April and it seems to work very well. Mia is loving it here and is getting a ton of attention from the grandparents which gives Josh and I a little break.
My parents came down this past weekend along with my sister (who left yesterday) and brother which was nice. We all got to hang out by the pool, go to the beach, layout, ride a sea doo, and even go out on a nice raft which was attached to the sea doo (that was a ton of fun!). My sister Linda and I rode the sea doo together and man was that a blast! She threw us both off the first time which was pretty cool, but she got scared b/c she didn't know where I went (I was right behind her). It was funny!
Our 4th of July was great (Mia's 1st!) and we all enjoyed the pool including Mia along with the beautiful 90 degree weather. Josh and Linda's man got to try test out their clam catching skills yesterday for the 4th but had no luck while the rest of us worked on our tans. I am pretty tan and my hair is def blonder than what it was. Gotta love vacationing at the beach!
As you can tell, we are having a great time and can't wait to celebrate Mia's 1st bday this weekend ( a week early) here at the beach then again on Sat the 15th at my sister's place. I'm sure Mia will have a blast and I'll def be taking a lot of pics and videos as usual to share with you all! I still can't believe she is turning the big O-N-E already? All I can say is that I have enjoyed every minute of every day with my little girl and can't wait to see her grow into this little lady she is becoming! :)
