Mia stood today
Miss Mia is on her way to standing, alone. While Josh and Mia were playing, she let go of his shirt and stood by herself for a good 5 seconds probably! Of course she didn't do it again after that but it was cool to see. :)
Mia's still coughing, congested and has runny nose :(
So I had to take Mia in again to our docs office today b/c her cough/runny nose/congestion has not improved since she has been on the antibiotics (a week tomorrow). The nurse practitioner (NP) (we couldn't get my doc b/c she was booked) thought it was allergies at first until she spoke with my doc who said babies generally do not develop allergies this early and that it is a viral infection, not bacterial. The NP said that we basically have to wait it out and that there isn't anything else we can do besides what we are doing now (giving her Pedicare). She said since Mia is so active and eating well, that there isn't anything to worry about.
Although Mia's cough started back on April 7th, her congestion has been lingering for almost 6 weeks now which the NP said is normal. I forgot to ask her if her congestion will now be contagious b/c she is off the antibiotics. Anyone know about this? I'll have to call my doc on Monday to find out. Anywho, the NP said it could take a while longer for Mia to get better, so I guess I just have to be patient and hope for the best! I'll keep you posted.

Update on Mobile Mia
Well here's another update:
Mia turned 9 months on April 14th and is mobile as ever! She is crawling everywhere and loves to stand. She's not walking yet...thankfully! ha! I think I can wait for that to happen. :) Mia did however walk alongside of the Carrolls furniture while we were home for Easter and I'm sure there will be tons more of this kind of mobility coming my way!
Mia is also very vocal and loves to say DaDa and MaMa, although she says DaDa more (Josh is happy!). She hasn't said anything else yet and I think kitty or doggie will be her next words. Or maybe it will be perro or gato (I'm teaching her Spanish too!)!
Mia started eating meats on April 13th and had squash, corn and chicken which she liked (still stage 2 baby food). We are giving her stage 3 (thicker) baby food starting today. Mia also decided that she likes the taste of wood due to the teeth marks on her crib railing (found them about 2-3 weeks ago). Silly girl!! We had to put a rubbery thing on it yesterday and it seems to work, so far!
Mia is still doing pretty well in the sleep category although she is still congested and has a cough which causes her to not go right down to bed. Sometimes she'll cry as soon as we put her down (she's been doing that since we went back home for Easter) and it'll turn into a scream! We'll let her go for a few mins, then Josh will go in to rock her. Usually that does it and she's good to go when she goes into the crib. Her naps though sometimes don't happen due to her crying bouts and we just get her up (we generally give her 15 mins before we go in) and try it again in 30 mins. Then she's pretty much good to go for a 1 1/2-2 hour nap unless she decides she doesn't want to nap. That is always nice! haha!
So Mia is still congested and her doc said it is most likey a sinus infection. We have her on antibiotics as of yesterdy and we hope that helps b/c I hate seeing her all stuffed up. We have to bring her in in a week if the medicine does not work.
As for me and Josh, we love watching our baby girl accomplish all of her milestones. We can't believe she is already 9 months old?! It's crazy how fast time goes by! We do love it though and look forward to her growing into a pretty little girl. :)

Sleeping, Standing, Pointing
Since we got back from Easter, Mia has been doing pretty well, sleep wise. She didn't sleep too well there and would only sleep about 6-7 hours at night and would not go back down when she got up at 7am. Now for the past two nights, Mia has been sleeping her usual 10 hours at night and is going back down to sleep after her 6am waking! Woo Hoo! Sleep definitely feels good when you're sleep deprived! I love it!
Oh also, Mia has been doing better at pulling herself up on things and bending down to get her toys. She walked alongside Josh's parent's couch at home for the 2nd time (did it for the first time on March 31st) and loves to stand up, w/ support of course. Mia also loves to point (loved pointing to the buttons on the airplane phone) and is now interested in the lights as of yesterday. She kind of points to them and just stares.
Josh and I are teaching Mia not to go near things that could be dangerous like the fireplace and entertainment center by telling her NO. We tell her to STOP if she goes near things that aren't dangerous like when she decides she wants to crawl all the way into the kitchen (tile floor, no es bueno para babies). We'll tell her STOP or NO in a loud voice and she'll literally stop and just look at us. She listens very well!!
We haven't fully baby proofed yet and we're hoping that Mia will listen as well as she does now, when she gets a bit older. We are putting a rubber cushiony edge on our coffee table though and outlet protectors in the sockets. That's the extent of our baby proofing though. We want to get a gate that is 54" wide but have had no luck in finding one so Mia doesn't crawl into the kitchen. We'll just have to keep telling her STOP if we don't find one.
Other than that, Miss Mia has ceasted to amaze us! :)

Doc's visit today
Well this morning I had to take Mia in to see our doc b/c of her cough and cold which are not getting better. Mia has been coughing like crazy lately and this morning it was pretty bad when she was waking up. She's also had her cold/runny nose and congestion which have not improved over the past month and our doc determined that Mia prob has a sinus infection since neither have gone away yet. Dr. C said at Mia's 9 month appt last week that it wasn't anything serious and said the same thing today, but decided to put Mia on Amoxicillin (sp?) to see if it'll work. We're going to put Mia on it today and in 24 hours she won't be contagious. Poor thing! I wish I could go through it for her. :( She's fine otherwise, just congested and not liking it. :( I wish I could go through it for her!
Dr. C also told me that Mia's side front teeth are coming in and could be why she spiked temp last weekend. She's going to look cute with side front teeth and 2 bottom front teeth!
Mia got weighed today too and with her clothes on she weighed 17lbs 10oz. So she's prob about 17lbs 5oz roughly. :)

Back in Cali
We are back in good old Folsom, Cali! Our trip back east was so much fun and it was great to see our family and friends. Everyone couldn't believe how big Mia got since Christmas and were amazed to see how fast she crawls. We had a nice Easter with our families and Mia got to see her first Easter bunny and clown. It was cute!!
Mia did very well on the plane flight back home last Wed night. She slept 3 hours on the way to Chicago, then an hour in the aiport and was up for 2 hours on the way to Phili. She did very well thankfully! She also did well napping and it didn't take her 6 days to nap like it did when we were back home for Christmas. I think Mia napped better back there then she did here! She took a 2 hour and a 3 hour on Sat and Monday which surprised us. We even had to wake her Sat from her 3 hour nap! However that all ended when she her nasty cold and cough came back full force on Easter then the crankiness started (maybe due to her 3rd tooth coming in).
Sunday night, Mia was definitely not herself. She started to not nap her last nap and her cold was back in full force. Her cough wasn't any better. Then she got up at 3:30am Mon morning! Ahhh! She was screaming and crying and I had to feed her so she'd go back to bed. Then she got up at 7:15am and wouldn't go back down. I tried but she just literally screamed and cried. :( I was soooo tired that Josh's mom was happy to take her and play with her. Mia got cranky right around 9am when Grandma tried to put her down for a nap, but Miss Mia screamed once again. I woke up b/c I felt badly and Mia was very very cranky. I ended up nursing her and she fell asleep on my shoulder, she was exhausted! She even stayed asleep when I put her down for a nap. However, Mia decided to poop her pants and only napped an hour. She was sooo tired and cranky.
Mia's next nap didn't happen either at 12:30. She was given us cues that she was very tired but as soon as I put her down and left the room, she screameddddd! So we let her got a few mins and it wasn't working. We got her up and decided to take her out in the 70 degree weather and eat some lunch. Finally, Mia took a nap at 1:45 ater I suctioned out her nose b/c she couldn't breathe when she was sucking on her fingers. She napped 3 hours and woke up b/c she pooped her pants once again! She could have slept longer, poor thing. She was fine though and did well when we visited josh's neighbor, Janice, that night. Mia got to show Janice how active she is and was crawling around like crazy. She loved their dog Henry and prob thought it was Seeko!
Tuesday came and Mia slept about 6 1/2 hours (didn't go to bed until about midnight PST...we kept Mia on cali time while we were home)Tues morning and wouldn't go back down for me. :( I was soooo tired and so was Mia. Grandma and Grandpa took care of her yesterday morning while we packed up to leave. Too bad Mia didn't nap the entire morning and was pretty cranky for them. We left their house around 1pm and headed to the phili airport for our 4pm flight.
Our flight back to Cali went very well thankfully. We all got some sleep on the leg from Wash Dulles to Sac when Mia slept 3 hours and 20 mins during the 5 1/2 hour flight. I think we slept a couple hours too. Sleep never felt so good!! We landed in Sac last night around 8:30. However, United decided to put our biggest piece of luggage on another flight from Phili, so we had to wait until 10pm for it to arrive. We left Sac airport at 10:30ish, hit a ton of traffic on the way which caused Mia to become even crankier, and had to pull over on the highway so I could nurse her. It helped but Miss Mia was extremely tired. We ended up putting her to sleep a bit after midnight and she went right down for us. Phew!
It's Wednesday and we are now home which Seeko and Onyx are happy about, seeko more than Onxy! He was crying and crying when we walked in the door last night, too cute! Miss Mia however still isn't a happy camper. She woke up at 7:15am, wouldn't go back down, screamed when we tried and wouldn't nap at all. She literally would scream to the top of her lungs until I went in to get her. Then she was fine. Right now, it's a bit after 11am and Josh put her down for a nap, 3rd attempt. She cried off and on prob b/c her nose is all stuffy and it sounds like she is sleeping. She isn't running a temperature thankfully (98.5 today) and her cheeks aren't flushed like they were Mon night and yesterday. We are pretty certain all this is due to teeth including the slight temp of 100.5 she had Tues morning. That was the highest she had and baby motrin brought it down. Poor Mia, I hate seeing her like this and I have no idea what to do when she doesn't even want to be held and is screaming. I wish I could go through the teething for her.
Anywho, I am very exhausted from our trip and not getting enough sleep last Friday night. Josh and I had a blast with Patsy, Linda, Paulie, Krock, Tammy, Katie and Paulie's friends at Tinks that night...have to do it again! We didn't get in until 3:30am Sat morning and I woke up at 7:30 b/c Mia wanted to get up. Sooooo since then , I really haven't caught up with my sleep which I need to do soon! It definitely feels good to be home, but sad that we had to leave our families, once again. :( We'll be seeing them for Mia's 1st bday on July 14th! I can not believe I am saying that already!!

Home Sweet PA
Well we've been on the east coast for a day now and all has been going well. We got here Thurs morning after a great flight thank god. Mia did very well and slept most of the way from Sac to Chicago (3 hours) and slept another hour in the chicago airport!! She did wake up at all when we took her off the plane....phew! She however did not sleep from Chicago to Phili, a 1:45 flight. Mia did well though and a lot better than she did last time we flew when she was 5 months old. Oh and it was nice that we were seated by other babies on both legs. :)
Josh, Mia and I spent Thursday in Delaware visiting Mia's great grandparents, Josh's cousin Beth, her two little beautiful girls Cameron and Alexandra, and Mia's great Aunt Lou and Great Uncle Chuck. Then we headed to visit other family friends, the lawsons, at night and had us some fun as usual! Everyone loved Mia and were so excited to see how much she has changed in the past 4 months.
Mia got to visit her uncle Paul's work today and got to meet his coworkers who were all very nice. She did well there and was all happy. Thankfully she wasn't cranky and that she slept in the car on our way up. Oh and we also bought Mia a Chicco highchair today, almost like the one we have at home (different print).
Today, we are at my parents place in PA and will be here until Easter Sunday afternoon. We will then drive to Josh's parents Sun night to stay with them until we leave Tues night which should be a good time too!

Mia's 9 Month Baby Well Exam
Today we went to see the doctor for Mia's 9 month checkup and here are her stats:
Weight = 17lbs (gained 3 1/2 lbs in 3 months) 25% tile, was 10% in Jan.
Length = 29 inches (time to get the convertible carseat!) (grew 2 1/2 inches in 3 months), still in the 90% tile
Head = 17cm, 25% tile, was 7% in Jan.
This morning Mia had her 9 month checkup. It went very well and thank god there were no shots!! There was blood drawn from her heel and she didn't scream at all. :) She just didn't know if she should cry or not and so she fussed and cried a bit. Nothing like last time though! :)
Our doctor said Mia's is growing and gaining weight well. She said her % tiles have increased with is great and that the red mark on her back isn't growing. Our doc said that there's no need to remove it b/c it's not cancerous or anything.
Teeth wise, she told us we can start brusing her two bottom teeth with a finger brush so Mia can get use to it. She said to buy flouride-free toothpaste so we're going to do that soon.
Fluid wise, Dr. C told us to keep giving her my milk along with formula at night like we've been doing. She also said we can give her juice mixed with water but that there is no need for it. We're not going to give her any juice just yet though. She also told us we can give her milk from her sippy too to get her used to that also. She said it may be easier when you try to wean her from the bottle. Our doc also told us we can put her flouride drops in her water instead of just giving her the drops themselves.
Food wise, we can start her on pureed meats, stage 3 baby foods. She said there's not a big difference b/t 2 and 3 but a slight thicker consistency. She also told us that we can start giving her baby yogurt and cottage cheese but to stay away from cow's milk until 1 year.
Since we are flying home tonight and afraid that Mia will want to get down and crawl, our doc said to give her some benedryl to help her sleep better. I bought that today and hopefully it will work. I gave Mia some before her nap, but she is still not sleeping and it's been 30 mins. She's quiet though b/c I can tell she's standing up in her crib hanging onto the crib bar. :)
Our doc said Mia's cough/cold isn't anything serious. She said her cough is from her nasal drip and that it and her runny nose should go away from some baby dimetapp.
Josh and I told our doc about the walker we use for Mia and she was iffy about it. She said that since her hips aren't using her entire weight to walk, that her hip development may be affected. Dr. C told us we'd made her happier if we put the brakes on the walker for a bit. So that's what we are going to do! :)
So our appointment went very well today and Mia hardly squirmed when Dr. C was checking her out! She was very interested in what our doc was doing and didn't cry like she did the last time. Our next checkup is when Mia is 1 year old in only 3 months!! :( My baby is growing fast! :)

Mia's 1st Easter Egg Hunt
Today at the Sierra Mom's Spring Party, Mia had her first Easter Egg Hunt! It was cute to see her look at the eggs in awe and then put them in her mouth. Josh and I went and met up with some of my friends there and their babies and had us some fun. We didn't get to see the Easter Bunny b/c we arrived a bit late b/c of Mia's naps. No biggie though b/c when we are home for Easter, we plan on getting Mia's pics taken then. :)
